Buy cooler/mail cooler/rent a fridge???

We use a collapseible nylon/plastic cooler. It is zippered around the top, has a shoulder strap, and folds up when your done using it. It does not take up a lot of room in luggage. Its about 1" deep, 2" long, and 1" wide. We got it a Walmart several years ago and its still going strong. We used to take it to WDW (pre-Poly) and it worked out
great...

We took the nylon collapsible cooler (about the size of a laptop bag) with rollers and filled it each day with new ice. Folded it up when we were done and took it home and use it when we go to the market. About $20 at Coscto, Sams, Wal-Mart etc..;)

another idea is buy a cooler on wheels with a handle..........take that as luggage, fill it with clothes/toiletries and unpack at the hotel, use it with ice and etc.......then re~pack it for the plane. I see a lot of people these days using coolers on wheels with a handle as luggage. Good luck!

I used to do this back in my DVC days to bring condiments and stuff that you wouldn't use a whole container of over the course of a week. Of course, with current restrictions you couldn't bring mayonnaise or jelly in a carryon like I used to, but packing it with clothes would work too. My cooler didn't even have wheels like they do now.

Has anyone shipped a styrofoam cooler to their resort? I'm curious to know how you packed it in the box and if it arrived in one piece? I want to send down diapers and wipes and a few other things so i don't have to haul it in my suitcases. I really don't want to buy from gc because I can buy it alot cheaper and ship it cheaper too.

I purchased the cheapest styrofoam cooler I could find at WalMart last year (under $2) and filled it with a hotpot, diapers, premixed formula and a few other items and shipped it to Pop Century. It was around $25 from Phoenix, AZ to Pop Century--but it included the formula, which was heavy. The diapers weren't particularly light, either, now that I think about it! *LOL*

I was able to obtain a vacuum cleaner box from a neighbor and cut it down to fit the cooler. I also reinforced the corrugated cardboard on the inside with another layer--just to be sure it would survive. No problems! :)

Be sure to mark all four sides and top of your box:

POP CENTURY RESORT
HOLD FOR (GUEST NAME) ARRIVING (ARRIVAL DATE).

Other packages are likely to be stacked on and around it.

Edited to add:

Be sure to take or purchase 1-gallon ZipLoc bags (not the ones with the zipper--they leak) to hold the ice. I found that filling two of those daily about 2/3 to 3/4 full kept everything at a nice temperature. If it's hot, you may need to refill the bags twice a day. The bags usually last two or three days, and you don't have a mess in the cooler!
