We're planning to buy one adult AP so that we can take advantage of the AP discounts that are offered. However, I've noticed that some people buy a child's AP instead of an adult one (when they travel with children). I'm planning to use my AP for the BEX code mostly for hotel savings and the reservation is made under my name. Would it work if we bought my DD(9) an AP and showed her AP at check-in? What are your thoughts on the matter?

I would buy the adult ap. I know that only one has to have one in the room, but I know that I would frown on that!! That way no issues and less worries. . . . .

Not to mention we love our ap's!!!!! Can go in and out and not have to worry about days expiring, get to enjoy more of the rest. and etd. . .

Well to get the AP rate the room must be reserved in the name of an AP holder. You have to be 18 yrs old to reserve a room- so your daughter isn't old enough.

You could do it and hope the CM at checkin doesn't ask for the AP, but if they you could get charged rack rate. I wouldn't risk it.

thanks for your thoughts! i won't do that, now that i know that you have to be 18 to have a res. under your name, and that it's frowned upon. i thought that if it were allowed, i'd follow the crowd.

Thats not what the CM at CRO or the Poly told me. Origianlly we were getting A.P. passes for all three of us, but we can not make a second trip this year. I called teh Poly directly that as long as one person in our party has a A.P. then that was fine. I was specific about my DD6 having the pass and was told that was all we needed for the discount.

Hope this helps

Dave

I just called the Poly again just to be sure and be on the up and up. I talked to Hollis at guest services, the official policy is " As long as the guest who has the AP is in the party staying in the room AND present when checking in then all is cool, even if it is a child. No rules broken, no shadowy games.

I can verify that. You can use a children's AP for rooms (up to three of them)
You would not be doing anything wrong or shady..that is how Disney allows the system to work.

I had this same question so I emailed guest services to get the answer in writing. The answer was "We appreciate your interest, you can book the annual passholder discount rate long as the child is staying in the room." They even went on to tell me which AP rates were currently active.

Is there a difference in price for a child's AP vs. an adult?

Could you also then use that AP for discounts in dining?
