I am really confused by all the AP stuff. I can't get the rate until I have an annual pass. But I have to activate the pass before I actually go to WDW?

We are planning a 9 day trip in late Oct. . With one nite at MNSSHP. Want to split our stay between PC and WL.

I Need advice!!!!

You don't have to activate the pass to book the rate but you do need the voucher in hand so you'll have to order it and wait for it to arrive before you book. There is no guarantee that the rate will be available when the pass arrives. That's the big catch now. If you decide to do it, it may be worth considering the express shipping option! I know on the TA site it is $6 for express shipping, I think it may be a little more on the public site but still worth it if you are trying to rush to get it in order to book the rates!

I have a real problem having to buy an AP to get a good rate.

Unfortunately, that's pretty much the only option at this point. Since tourism is almost back to pre-9/11 numbers, chances that Disney will offer discounts for non-AP holders are pretty slim! Why offer discounts if your resorts are full at rack rate? :confused3

I think you're right and I'm glad tourism is up. However, we recently priced a week in WDW without an AP for November and found that for a few hundred dollars more we can spend 9 days in Hawaii. I hate to miss our world visit but it might be time to explore.

I called WDW snd booked BWI with an A/P, before I ordered one. There was no problem, they even figured out how much I would save by getting the pass. When I arrive at BWI I need to show my voucher. It was very easy and I saved over $400.

:( I don't think you'd get your AP in time to make the reservation - I think today is the 120 day mark for check-ins on October 26th. Even the express shipping option on the website takes 7 days.

I'm not sure there'll be any general codes for late Oct. The resorts are already pretty full for that time frame. There isn't much incentive for Disney to offer general code discounts. If codes do come out, they probably won't be much of a discount.

When are you going? It was my understanding that the only way to get an AP rate for late Oct/Nov/Dec right now was through the best rate program.

I'm guessing they're going before 10/4. Online, you can book late Oct through Dec, but 120 days prior to arrival. So excited I finally got my voucher #'s to work---just got it today. I was online today looking and in late Oct/early Nov there are still alot of rooms available. Savings for 7 nights in a deluxe room looked to be about $600-800 and the AP vs the MYW ticket difference was about $250. It all depends on where you're staying if it's worth getting the AP. Didn't seem to be much difference in the moderate compared to the AAA rate I have already booked.

That's good to know! I don't mean that it's a good situation for everyone, but it is just good to have this information. I still hope there will be some general public offerings, but at least now I won't waste my money on an AP. Thanks for sharing your findings!! :sunny:
