We're considering going to Universal in the fall. Right now there's a buy 2 days, get 1 day free (for a park-to-park ticket). Is this a common promotion? Can I expect it to be around in October or should I buy now?

If it matters we'll be staying at a Universal resort.

Promos are common
If the tickets do t have an expiration date, sounds like a good deal for you

It's a common promo. However, it's highly likely ticket prices will go up before October. So, buy-two-get-one now will be cheaper than buy-two-get-one later. Also, though I see that promo quite often on UT, that doesn't mean that will continue to happen. There was a time when 7 days for $99 was a common promo and that left.

I was on UT earlier and it says that the 2 day park to park - plus extra day promo tickets expire in full on May 31st 2016. Do you happen to know if that's something that's only because the tickets are purchased through UT or do you think it indicates that they'll be ending the promo?

The current promo ends May 31 2016 .. They might or might not offer another one. No way to know yet. I think with Kong opening this summer, they might not offer it for the summer months and resume offering it for the end of year, but who knows at this point. I DO think that ticket prices will be going up again relatively soon

I've seen tickets on UT before with a use-by-date, but that isn't always the case. I'm pretty sure the tickets I bought didn't have a use-by date. I bought them a month or two ago. (Luckily, we're going in April so if I did somehow miss it, we'll be okay. It's also possible it didn't used to say that but they do currently).

Edited to add: US has buy 2 get one free right now too, and they don't have that often. In their fine print, there are use-by dates. So, I wonder if UT had to have that as well when they came out with those - like if it was from the same batch or something. Universals say "
  • First use of this ticket must be on or before May 18, 2016, to receive full benefit of the ticket entitlements.
  • All ticket usage must occur on or before May 31, 2016 when the ticket will expire in full. Unused days shall be forfeited."

I've been wondering about the UT 2+1 tickets too. The current Universal promo expires before our trip (August), but I can't seem to find an expiration on the UT website so I was thinking of getting those while they're still up. Am I missing an expiration date on those?

I would email them to confirm.

It does appear that they have 2 different promos right now. The one buy 2 get 1 free that expires May 2016 is $195. And if you look down below that there is another buy 2 get 1 free that doesn't expire that is $200.

Thanks! That expiring one hadn't been there when I looked last so I was worried the other one was from the promo and expired May 31. That makes me feel better, but I'll verify expiry with UT before purchasing.
