Buy 160+ points now or just 100?

Probably a stupid question... but is it wise to buy just 100 points now (resale) and plan on later in life purchasing another resale for 100 points or so...or should I go all out and get 160 points (resale or disney)?

160+ points would make it financially difficult right now but we could do it. 100 points would be safer and at least give us 1 vacation per year... so not sure what to do

I would go with 100 points if 160 would cause you financial stress- this should be fun not scary!

If the 100 point contract is safer for you financially then do that. Why strap yourself to the 160. You can always add on at a later date and the 100pts will get your foot in the door. Good Luck in your decision.....

Definitely do the 100 points - DVC should never be a financial struggle for anyone. If you want to add on later, you can do so in increments or 25 (if paid in cash) or 50 (if financed) points directly from Disney. You could then even sell your original 100 point contract if you found you wanted another home resort instead.

There's really no real "pecking order" to DVC that I can see. Points are points, and it's just not a big issue here on the boards, at least as long as I've been reading (about 3 years) that some people have 100 or 160 points, and some people have 1000 or more. For the most part, we all just enjoy being DVC owners, and want to talk about it and share with others who have the same interest!!!

Like the others have posted only buy what is good for you financially. You should not make it a struggle. Disney is for fun not struggle. Good luck.
