Day 7 Sat 9/3 HRC and Mardi Gras
I like not sticking to the plan so chilled out.
Up late and breakfast in the room Pancakes and sausage for me, western omelette for Baz, and loads of coffee. Got OJ and lucky charms at Walmart. This isnt cereal its sweeties??? Zachs happy as he gets a watch with it.
Zach and baz hit the pool again, whilst Danny and I go for a walk up to Bargain World and Walgreens. Had to get Baz some trainers as he has developed blisters from his acupressure sandals. $14.99 lovely.
Love Walgreens just like a giant Boots that sells fags LOL.
Back to the pool and cant keep Danny out of the water, probably cos it is heated today! Very hot 83-84 º. Beer and frozen Margharettas by the pool, very decadent and sheer bliss.
Up to get showered and changed for our PS at HRC. Used PBX on the HR website to get super priority seating. Walked up to City walk and past eeeeenormous queue, then past another long PS queue, feeling very smug. Not for long though.
Ill probably get flamed for this, but we both agreed that the place was pretty lame. Fake atmosphere, too huge, food bland and service sooo slow. More like a huge tourist barn, London HRC is so much better.
Me Spring rolls and Beef Fajitas
Baz Chicken Noodle soup and Herb marinated chicken breast apparently tasted like chicken sprinkled with oxo.
Kids Chicken stix and fries.
2 beers, 1 coffee and 1 latte (3.79!)
$58 minus $20 from HRH All Access
Got great curb places for the Mardi Gras near the start at about 7.00. Parade started at about 8.00. Apologies in advance to our stateside pals on the boards but we were just suddenly surrounded by really pushy american parents, all determined to get the beads for their kids. One mum next to me was literally snatching them out of my hands when I managed to snag them COW!!
I still managed to get 17 and a plastic penny thing for Zach. Grabbed a coffee on the way out in a very fetching re-useable plastic cup with a weird swivelly lid thing and strolled leisurely home. Kids asleep straight away and we followed.
One thing to note here that I really dont like, is that they dont wait for you to finish your starter before bringing the main course or dont we eat fast enough? Solved problem by asking for Doggy Bags for starters.
