Button Fraud?

I trust the judgement of the Dis, so I wanted to throw this scenario out at you guys and get opinions on whether or not I would be taking advantage of WDW.

Next May, I'll be taking a trip to WDW with 12 of my family members. We will be arriving 5/6, spending 5/7 - 5/11 in the parks and leaving on 5/12. Our family has several events/milestones around this time, but none actually during our trip.

My parents' 25th anniversary is 5/1, my aunt and uncle also have their 25th later in the month and my mom's 51st b-day is 5/26. My cousin's daughter Alexa turns four the following month in June. Would it be bad form to get birthday and anniversary buttons/pins for them to wear in the parks?

This will also be the first trip ever for Alexa, her brother Connor, and my uncle Dan so I'm planning on getting First Trip buttons for them. But, my uncle Rick, aunt Sue, aunt Cathy and cousin Jeannette will all be visiting Epcot, Studios, and DAK for the first time. They've been to MK before. Is it out of line for them to get First Trip buttons as well?

Because this is such a big trip, I'd really like to make it special for everyone. Myself, my brother and my parents are the only ones who have been to all four parks and the only ones who go with any sort of frequency, so this is a big deal for my relatives. I want to make it as memorable as possible, but don't want to take advantage by celebrating things that aren't really going on at that time.

Opinions or suggestions, guys?

Hi there! sounds like so much fun! i see nothing wrong wiht the activities all happening in the same month, but the one in June is kind of pushing it. But that's just my OP

I don't see any problems. You are celebrating all these events while there, so celebrate in style. Just like when I was a kid. My b-day party was always on a Saturday, not ON my b-day. Same concept. Have fun w/ all the celebrations.

I say your family should wear the buttons because it's your WDW vacation & you should all feel proud to wear them. I don't see how it's fraud because it's nothing like the "it's my birthday buttons" that you ask for at guest services in the 4 parks that people wear & sometimes get free goodies from the Cast Members because they see people wearing them. You said yourself that not your expecting anything special from WDW for free, so wear them & have fun.

We always have our Disney Birthday when we go in Jan. Everyone picks the day we wear the birthday button and just have fun with it. Its not like we are trying to get anything for free as we tend to spend around $3000 for our week in the world.

They don't make you sign sworn statements saying that it is the official date so I would get them and have fun. There are times when we will wear the buttons because we can't be there on the exact day but will be fairly close to it.

I say get everybody their buttons and have a wonderful time! I regret not getting DD First Trip buttons last month--it was DH's birthday and I knew to ask for a birthday button, but didn't see the First Trip ones until later in the week. Next Oct. we are going for my big 4-0, which will be 2 weeks previous to the trip and DH will be 42 during the trip. Yes, we will celebrate!! I figure I won't mind 40 as much if I can celebrate it at WDW!

DH and I are here celebrating our 10th anniversary, our anniversary was actually on Sept 7, but we couldn't take our vacation till now, so we are celebrating now. I made special anniversary buttons for us both to wear

Disney celebrates its birthday for 18 straight months! You don't get anything with the buttons, you just get the fun of wearing them, and Disney doesn't care if it's not the 'actual day'.

How do you get these buttons? Do they cost money? We are celebrating my 40th while there and also it is my four nieces FIRST time to Disney. Can I get them buttons? How do I find them? SHould I have told them that it was their first time when making reservations? UGH! We leave in three days!

Another tip for celebrating:
When I made my ADR's I had a great CM! I told him our trip was a birthday celebration for my DD even though her birthday was actually about 2 weeks prior. I asked him to recommend just ONE of the restaurants we were booking to celebrate.
He insisted on noteing her birthday on EVERY ADR - told us not to expect anything/no promises but encouraged us to celebrate at every TS and that it was very likely she would recieve a cupcake & song (not that we need the extra dessert!)

Yes we will get the birthday button too. DD will be 14 BTW so it is not as big a deal for her as the little kids but hey, if WDW is going to cooperate with my opportunity to embarass her an entire week, how can I resist that!?

When DW and DD went to pick up DD's B-day button last week the CM felt sorry for DW and gave her a 1st visit button.

She explained that this was not her first visit not even to GS at Epcot. The CM laughed at her and said to bad it's your 1st visit with me so wear the button I will have security checking the cameras later today.

We had a blast with it the entire time telling the story to other CMs all day.They all seemed to get a real kick out of it and some even said there's a camera right there pointing at a wall with a picture on it.

So go ahead and celebrate what ever it is your celebrating Walt made the Parks so all your dreams could come true

Go to Guest services at the parks . They are free . You can tell them when you get the buttons and you will be fine.

Some check-in desk even have them as well.

So tell the truth...Say "I am celebrating my birthday/anniversary today" not "It IS my birthday/anniversary today". I just would not wear the buttons all week!

I have always gone by the 1-week method: if the event falls within one week of arrival or 1-week of departure, it's okay to get a button and wear it through your whole trip. Beyond a week is being a little greedy.

That's just my opinion.
