Cooking Buttermilk Ice Cream

My neighbor made some buttermilk ice cream for a book group meeting, and it was so yummy! I'd love to make some for our annual Pioneer Day celebration on the 24th, but my neighbor is on vacation and I can't get the recipe from her. Just wondering if anyone here has ever heard of such a thing and has a recipe for it?
