If a frozen (to begin) stick of butter something that can be carried on a plane?

I'm not 100% certain but I don't think so. When at regular room temperature the item needs to be able to hold its own shape. In a hot place (warm room temperature) butter can't hold its own shape.

Doing a Google search on "butter on an airplane", it doesn't seem that butter isn't permitted. Several website state that butter is consider to be a paste/gel by TSA, but I don't have any first had experience with this.

Yes, you can buy butter at your resort gift shop. No need to bring it from home.

By the way, it is not likely to remain frozen for long. And an astute security screener who sees what it is will immediately equate it with liquid or gel.

Not in carryon. And if you do put it into checked luggage, be sure to keep it wrapped up really,really well. Huge mess when it starts to defrost.

Thanks! I have a friend who is coming, and she brings ice because she has an eye condition that requires cold (temperature) medicine. She would inlcude the stick of butter in this ice pack if butter was allowed to be one of the carry on items. I suppose we won't know until she tries. We only need 1 stick not the 2 or 4 pack that you can buy.
