Apparently announced a couple of months ago, but the new package is starting to arrive in stores.

It used to look like this:

I guess butter has typically been sold as one house brand or another, although there have been some specialty regional dairies and maybe some brands that sold nationally. I remember Challenge, with a prominent image of a deer on the package. But Land O'Lakes has been available in my area for as long as I remember.

I'm not sure if there was any specific protest about their packaging, but the new image doesn't seem all that different.

I usually despise political correctness but this actually doesn’t bother me.
It’s still a pretty image of the lake and trees even without the American Indian.
We buy their whipped butter for our needs.

Seeing the two packages, who's even going to notice?
I noticed right away in top photo it was bare. Probably from hobby of photography - “subject” we’re accustomed to seeing is missing! But I guess I’m weird that way. If the farmers pictures’ are put on the boxes then it will just look changed. Otherwise it’s a bit of a head scratcher to me artistically. YMMV

Funny. I have butter in my fridge & thought about that image the last time I took out the butter & was thinking it was crazy that it was still on it.

I'm rather glad. It was never a real woman with any story or anything, she was thought up by a marketing firm. The lake art is pretty.
I always found humans as corporate mascots kinda creepy anyway. I'm a simple person, just give me a cute animal.

...I think I just got insight as to why I'm a Disney addict. :rotfl2:

My dad cut out the figure on the box, folded it, and made the butter that she's holding a lift flap. He folded it so her knees were up behind the flap, and when you lifted the flap, it looked like her chest was exposed. Every time a look at that box, that's what I see. Not a proud moment about my dad, so I'm fine with it being gone!

They replaced the "knee" art a few years ago. I think they just cut her off at the waist. I noticed it then. lol We used to do the same thing when we were little. lol

What’s crazy about it being on there? It’s to bad it’s being removed. What’s next? Paul Newman? Aunt Jemima? La Negrita products? The leprechaun off of cereal.

Paul Newman is on there to promote his own product. Aunt Jemima - now that's about as racist as you can get, since the character came from an old minstrel show based on black stereotypes. A leprechaun is a mythical being. I had to look up LaNegrita - for the most part it is a term of endearment used in Spanish speaking communities? So none of your examples make any sense at all, except the Aunt Jemima one.
