I want to go to Las Vegas but dh wants to go to DL. Our flight credit is up Feb. 8th and I can't take any more time off work since I am taking a week to go to New England in October. I am a teacher so plan to take a short trip before returning from winter break without our kiddos. So is it worth it to go from Jan 2-5th? We don't mind crowds too much but also want to be able to do the best rides. We have free flight and hotel so we only have to pay tickets and meals.

Any advice?

That's the time we're going as well, since DD can't miss any school this year.
I plan on using RideMax. It's probably going to be a pretty crowded time, but I'm hoping that between RideMax and the opportunity to see all of the Christmas decorations and having a full entertainment schedule, it will be worth it.

Crowds will be relatively light, it will still be a bit crowded due to Christmas Break in schools, but not too bad, you are talking the middle of the week to Saturday, also the busiest days are the 31st and 1st.

That's the time I went this past year.
The decorations and music are so beautiful - it's way worth it.
Disneyland at Christmastime is even more magical.

Crowds are not that bad after January 1st. The longest waits were Indiana Jones and Space Mountain, as usual. Space Mountain was 85 minutes at one point but if you get a fastpass and use it at night it on those it won't be bad. It gets way too hot waiting on the rooftop at Space Mountain for over an hour in midday, even in January. But I did go during Rockin' Both Parks on opening day for the new music, so that would explain the crowds on Space Mountain. RHCP and Disneyland were the best late Christmas gift I could imagine.

It wasn't that bad.
Just decide what is most important to you and make sure to have time for it!

Thanks guys!
One part of me was hoping that you would say it is terrible so I could go to Vegas but the other part is glad I can doing something for my dh. I am going to Maine, New H, and Mass. and leaving him for a week with our 2 girls four and two so DL will be my gift to him.

I will have to check out ride max.

Last year it was really bad the week after the first. We were there on the 2nd, and DL was at capacity when we left. It was crowded enough that we left at 5pm and braved the rush hour traffic to get home, which we never, ever do. The only ride that we were able to get on that day was PotC, and the line was over an hour long. We stayed clear of DL the rest of the week, but heard from CM friends and friends who visited that it was really crowded the rest of the week as well. We went back the following week, and it was back to normal.

I have been there 3 times during those dates, and it was always very tolerable with using FP etc. But, i have not been in the last two years, and DLR is getting more popular every year! I would still do it in a heartbeat though. They will still have all of the Christmas stuff, make sure you ride HM and IASW !
