Busted stocking up on Alien Green Mickeys!

ok- I must be missing something- what do you do with them?

"Alien Green" is the DIS color, and the paint chip samples are shaped like Mickey's head.

You can make luggage tags and other ID's to put on your backpack, stroller, etc, to identify yourself as a DISer at the parks.

Someone has to pay for those - what you did was steal! You did not take the samples home with the intention of seeing if you liked the color. You never intended to use them for their purpose.

Seriously - if you needed 10, you could've taken one and made color copies and laminated them.

Sorry - but this typifies what I think is wrong with the world today - if I see something I want, I will take it.

Put the shoe on the other foot - you want to paint your bedroom blue, but you go to the paint store to get a sample of the color so you can test it out in your house. When you get to the paint section, some rude lady takes all the samples of the shade of blue you wanted. You would be on this board so fast complaining of how rude and ignorant she was.

You can always do what I did - I bought a Mickey head punch at my local scrapbook store and lime green paper and am making my own LGMH's to give out.

I do have to admit that I went to Home Depot but they only had one Alien Green head and it was all written on. I took it to make sure that I had could match the paper to it.

I wonder how much they actually sell of Alien Green paint? I dont think that Home Depot is hurting. DH used to work for them and on a normal sat the store would pull in 1 million in sales. ONE MILLION!! So 10 little green chips I wouldnt worry about.

At the risk of getting flamed and being the party pooper, you guys need to know that Home Depot probably does have to pay for these samples you're taking. My DH is in the same business and he says that usually the paint company will provide the initial display and supply of samples for free but the retail store must pay for refills of the samples. Minimum cost for these samples is usually about 50cents each which can certainly add up. Granted, he does not work for Home Depot so can't say for sure that this applies to them but he has worked for several different companies and this has always been the arrangement with the various paint companies. Love the ideas I've seen on here for decorating with the Mickey heads, tho. I just couldn't take more than a couple myself since I know they most likely do have to pay for them.

No way they are $.50 a piece. They are mass-produced paper products.

That said, they have a funky shape. You can make a better mickey head.

Last time I was in the market for some MH's at HD, I went to the paint counter and asked if I could pay for several since I wanted to take a bunch--and I was told, no problem, take as many as you want in any color as long as there are a few left for others as well.

Also she said that HD doesn't stock them, the paint company does.

I too am raising a twin duo of theives......what will we steal next??? I think we will head over Kohl's and take more than one fudge sample from the tray at the candy counter!!!!

I share the basic sentiment. But since I too have taken a small quanity of samples for other than their intended purpose in my life, I decided not to go there: "glass houses", "cast the first stone", etc.

But personal attacts are not called for and can get threads locked down!

I think it's fine pointing out the "fact" that what the OP was describing was stealing, the debate would be a question of degree. But insults are not a tool for debates.

I'm just so incredibly sick of reading this sort of riduculous, self-important crap on the DIS. Please. Get a grip. Nobody's kid is going to be negatively impacted by seeing their mother carry off a few extra paint samples from Home Depot. You all need to quit spending so much time worrying about who takes extra paint samples, who took their towel animal home, and who used a cup from All Star Movies to fill up at Pop. I just makes you all seem incredibly petty. And, it's driving me (for one) nuts! THESE ARE TINY THINGS!!!! And, if you can't see that, well, I feel sorry for you.

Taking a can of paint is stealing. To describe taking a handful of free paint samples as stealing is stretching it pretty far. I hope none of you champions of honesty have ever taken an extra Magic Kingdom park map for your scrapbook or grabbed more napkins than you really needed at Pecos Bills. Or, horror of horrors, I hope you haven't taken home any of the leftover resort Mickey soaps. After all, those are meant to be used WHILE you are at the resort. If you don't actualy use them during your vacation, you should leave them there so that Disney can use them for the next person.

If you have engaged in any of the above mentioned heinous acts, then I guess you're embarked on a life of crime that rivals that of the oringinal poster. You better get to confession and put your kids in therapy immediately. Or, better yet, just give them to some other self-righteous DIS poster who could, no doubt, raise them better than you are (or at least, they think). There are always plenty of perfect people here ready to volunteer their expertise.

WAIT JUST A MINUTE!! Your Kohl's has a CANDY COUNTER????? Not only that, it has fudge samples you can steal? My Kohl's has neither.

GEM, I'll assume you're talking about the unopenned bars of soap. I'd hate to think that Disney is trying to collect everyone's used soap and recycling it.
