How often do the busses come around - past the loops?

I think it is about every 15-20 minutes.

We used to ALWAYS wait for the bus, but now my husband is on a walking kick. We never realized being at the 1500 loop (across from the Meadows Recreation area) how close it was to walk. It is only about 10-15 minute walk from 1500 to either the Outpost or Pioneer Hall (1/2 mile?).

The only time we take the bus now is if one happens to be there or if we are just returning from the parks and are too pooped to walk!!

I have to say that I do enjoy walking more than riding the bus for that short distance!

If you just missed the bus it feels like hours but it is only 10 to 15 minutes usually. Can be as long as 20 minutes on occasion. As VAN said, if you are staying in the center loops it is not that bad of a walk and sometimes you can even get there before the bus.

The buses are really not bad time-wise. I agree that sometimes it seems a long time, but for us it is better than driving.

We just got back from FW and found the bus system to be HORRIBLE!!!!! On our first day, it took us 2 hours to ride the bus to EPCOT and another 2 hours to get home. We were waiting for the EPCOT bus for 45 minutes and that was after a long wait for our Yellow bus. During the first 30 minutes of that wait, we never saw another bus come into the depot that were going to any of the parks/locations. The only buses that were coming in were the Yellow/Orange/Purple buses. People were really getting mad about the wait and several spoke to the driver when he arrived but he could have cared less.

It is unrealistic to expect people to wait for these buses that long. What's funny is that when you ask someone about the schedule, they tell you the external buses run every 15-20 minutes and the internal buses are every 10-15 minutes. One night after dinner at the Trails End we had to wait for 25 minutes for a Yellow bus and when one finally did arrive, there was another right behind it. The second bus followed us all the way back to the 1700 loop. You would think when they get bunched up together that the second bus driver would have the good sense to stay at the bus stop and let there be an interval between them. We say this happening several times - doesn't anybody monitor the bus schedules.

We also had a reservation for an early tour at 8:15 at Magic Kingdom and when I called the transportation number on the house phone, I was told I needed to call a cab inorder to get over to Magic Kingdom at that hour. How ridiculous is that? You can't even get correct information when you call the transportation office. We figured out our own way over to Magic Kingdom - without a cab!!!

After these long waits, we started to driving to all the parks - after all the parking is free.

By "Disney" did you mean the Magic Kingdom?? If you were staying at Ft. Wilderness, you were already at "Disney".

We also find that it is easier to drive to some of the parks. The only exception is the Magic Kingdom where we just take the ferry directly from the marina.

I have found that sometimes at FW...the busses are piggybacking one another. This gets to be a pain--b/c the average wait is only 10-15 minutes..but when one bus catches up to another--then the passengers on the first bus might have had to wait 25 minutes--and then those who may have just missed that bus see one pulling up 5 minutes later.

I wish that they would fix that problem--perhaps a bus schedule like in cities--at least for the internal FW busses. So busses are at 8, 8:15 and so on--that way if a 2nd bus is running ahead of the game, he can ease up on the gas a bit so that the wait times run closer to average.

They do try to space the busses out but when they do get bunched up its hard to get the spacing back when you have guest that just want to get back to camp.

If they just miss the 1st bus and the 2nd bus picks them up he just cant sit there for 15 mins. to get his spacing back without upsetting the guest he just picked up. They do talk to each other to try and keep it spaced right but its a hard thing to do and keep the people on the buss happy too.

For the most part I think they do a great job. I have had many bus rides that I only had to wait 5 min or less. Its just you remember few 20 min plus waits more and it always seems to happen when you are in a real hurry.

You sure hit the nail on the head. If one bus is directly behind another bus then he should sit at the depot for 10-15 minutes so they can get spaced apart.

I can bet you that there are more people waiting 15-20 minutes for a bus then there are people who only wait 5-10. If somebody is only waiting 5 minutes most of the time for a bus then I want them to buy me a lottery ticket 'cause they must be very, very lucky.

We were at the Fort over Easter and the only longish wait we had for a bus was on Easter Sunday leaving Epcot. We had a 20 minute max wait then. All other times we had waits of 10 minutes or less.

Sorry--all my lottery tickets have been duds so far but I get to hit the jackpot when I go home to Fort Wilderness!!

We camped 4/18 to 4/24 and had excellent bus service. I was surprised, because we had had longer waits on previous camping trips. We like to take the ferry to MK, ferry to CR then monorails to Epcot, but do sometimes drive to MGM and AK. Our DTD service was great, especially after PI one night, when the GF-WL driver picked up 4 of us who were waiting for FW, and said "no problem, I'll take you there!" Talk about exceeding guest expectations!

We were in the 1500 loop, and the yellow service was excellent in both directions.
