Buss stops at POP

Yes, thats one of the things i like about values...queued bus stops! At mods/deluxe its basically a free-for-all...which can be frustrating.

Tip for very early breakfast ADRs: Ask concierge what time the first bus comes, and let them know you need to go to so-and-so place for your ADR. That way they'll make sure a bus does in fact come. I was the only person on the bus for my very early Wave breakfast ADR, so instead of going to MK the driver drove me to Contemporary Resort personally! It was so nice. :)

Thank you for the reply and the tip about ADR's!!

THIS!!!! It is the one complaint I had with my stay at the Pop--the bus stops are the ones the farthest away at every park. They are quite a hike!

I found CSR to be one of the best resorts with regards to where they bus stops are at the parks. But I'm wondering, have you given any though to the Swan and Dolphin resorts? They are an easy boat ride away from both the Disney Studios and Epcot.

Also, would renting a scooter be a consideration?

Thank you for the reply!!

I am worried abut the bus stops at the park. We are very much so considering a wheelchair or scooter, my son has spent years in and of walking boots, a crushed top foot bone and is currently healing form another broken foot bone. He knows we will make the descion at the end of the day but he hates not being able to walk on his own. We have done Disneyland many times and never had to go as far as getting a chair for him BUT that is nothing like the walking we will be doing at Disneyworld. We are staying 7 nights so it will be a massive amount of walking- however I need to research age requirements for ECV's. He is 12.

Yes, thats the one thing i hate about all value resorts. The bus stop at the parks is so far!
The Gondolas are really going to change that for POP and AoA at DHS and Epcot.

POP and AoA(and CBR/DRR) Guests will be real close to the DHS entrance and only steps away from the International Gateway entrance to Epcot!:)

Only problem with a scooter is that I think you have to be 18. They might rent to 16/17 year old (old enough to be able to have an actual licence). But I am not sure you'll be able to get a scooter for a 13 yr old. You can use a standard wheel chair and take turns pushing? Other families have done that and they said it wasnt that bad.

Yay! Thats great news! :teeth: Although I can only imagine just how crowded the Int.Gateway will be once the gondola opens.

Pop = 2,880 rooms and 1 bus stop.
CSR = 1,900 rooms with 4 bus stops.

So yeah.

CSR stops are shared with all destinations. POP has separate areas for each destination. So CSR is 1900 rooms for 4 stops = 475 rooms per stop. POP has 2880 rooms for 6 separate queues = 480 rooms per queue. About the same.

I dont think it'll be too busy as the gondolas only can travel so fast and carry so many. There are not the size of a bus so there wont be busloads of guests showing up at International Gateway.

I totally disagree. I think it'll be way more packed at Int Gateway with people wanting to go back to Pop AND AoA for example. A lot of DVC owners are up in arms over this.

I agree with a PP about looking into POFQ. I love Pop, but if I had any mobility issues it would be my last choice, just because of how far the bus stops are from the park exits. It is a terrible way to end the day, plus the lines can get ridiculously long (especially from MK) at the end of the night. FQ is an amazing resort, and everything is very close to the bus stop.

You will want to look into a wheelchair that you all can take turns pushing or an off property that will allow a 13 yr old to operate a motorized one

the walking at DL is NOTHING comparred to what you will do at WDW - plus there is multiple types of terain - espically at AK - its all undeven in places (as its supposed to be)

Maybe your son could use one of those knee scooter things (is that what it is called?) It's like a wheely thing that you bend your leg back and put your lower leg on so you are walking with one leg and gliding with the other.

Not really. At the moderate resorts you don't have to wait in a queue at the resort--they have covered areas with actual seating.

At POP, while there is technically only one bus stop, everyone does not wait at the same place. Each of 6 destinations has its own place to wait. At moderates everyone waits at one of the stops regardless of destination.

The lack of a queue at moderates is both good and bad. On a very busy day there can easily be more people at the stop for a given destination than room on the arriving bus. If you aren't quick to get to the curb in front of others you may have to wait for the next bus.

I've read that that can happen, but after around 12 stays at various moderates have never encountered it.

For me, I'd rather sit than stand in yet another queue. I know some like the bus stop queues at the resorts, but not me.

Overall I agree. I preferred having a shaded stop at CBR especially when it was raining! However, on busy mornings there wasn't a place to sit. Sometimes buses that stopped were already filled from the prior stops. At POP the buses were always empty since anyone riding from elsewhere exited before those in line boarded.

I'd rather stand in line than be among the first at the bus stop only to have later arrivals swarm the bus.
