What are the really high demand times for DVC?

Seems like December is bust all the way through. I know Oct is busy for the Epcot resorts- is it very busy at the other resorts as well durin F&W?

I thought September was a slow time- no- it is hard to get a DVC ressie at WDW during Sept?

I never have tried, but just from reading this message board, most DVC'ers like to go when they get the most bang for the buck, hence my assumption they go during Adventure & Choice seasons. I think F&W starts sometime in late September.

May might be a good month, I got my waitlist for a 2br for VWL(yet another SSR owner who won't stay put :rotfl: )

Tsk Tsk!
Yes, I think you are right about May- I was very surprised when I called and checked about May- there were many choices available for my dates. It looks like a nice time to go also- nice weather, low crowds... Still availability for Auguset too- but I don't know if I can take the heat.

Even though I have tolerated the subzero temperatures of the last week and dream of getting a flight to Orlando. I know I don't deal with humidity well, so I don't think you'll ever catch me at WDW in August.

We're going down the first weekend of May, kids get Election day off(safety reasons, but that will go out the window if we have to make up snow days:sad2:).

Early December is very busy everywhere for several reasons -- cheap points, holiday decorations, special holiday events, owner's meetings, etc, etc.

Late December is busy because of the holidays.

Any time in December is nutz at VWL, because of all the reasons above, plus the decorations there, plus WL just seems to be Christmassy.

Easter is busy because of school vacations. Spring Break is too, but less so because Spring Break is spread out all over the calendar.

The F&W period is very busy for the Epcot resorts, but not too bad elsewhere.

So far, May is not terribly busy, and IMHO is a great time to go. We're not flower people, but the decorations at Epcot for Flower & Garden are just great. The weather is usually very good, crowds are light (except on weekends when a lot of locals go), and it's generally a great time.

We also like late November -- for all of the reasons for December, minus the crowds. November is typically when Florida people go to Disney, and there is a reason for that.

June, July, and to a lesser degree August, are busy at Disney generally because of school being out. Floridians don't go then, and there is a reason for that. Several reasons, actually.

We try to go in the middle or the end of September the crowds seem a lot less during the week and the weather has started to cool off a little!

I have to laugh, and agree, with your statements. We live in Florida and tend to go anytime between November and mid-March. I seriously doubt you will ever catch me at WDW during June - August and for several reasons.

I am from Ohio and I doubt if you would catch me at WDW in that time frame and I know my reasons(heat, I don't tolerate well), what's the local FL residents' reason. Just being nosy.

There were just grand villas available at 7 months for BWV and OKW for the second week of Sept. Not sure if that helps you or not as far as availability ideas go.

My reasons are probably the same as yours. :) I live in NW FL and the heat is bad enough six hours north of WDW during those months so I don't want to go where it is even hotter. I don't care for going during the crowded times because to me standing in line for forty mintues, or more, for Peter Pan just isn't fun, especially with two small children. Granted we could go hang out in the pool but I'd rather float in my own so that I don't scare the small children. ;) Since I have the luxury of being close enough to drive down :drive: for a long weekend I'd rather do that when I can take my time through the parks, not fight with the crowds and take several trips to do the things we want to do rather than feel like we have to cram everything into a week or so.

Some people like the crowds and even say it adds to the experience (how I'm not sure) but I'll take the kids out of school for a week before going during the summer.

:beach: :tink:

I am not sure either how "crowds add to the experience", also probably why I wouldn't go for Xmas either. I love the "magical" experience of getting run into by strollers.:rotfl:

Just wondering, if December continues to be such popular time for DVCers to go, could we anticipate a point increase for that time of year? Again, just wondering...

WOW- that is interesting! I am just trying to get an idea of the times of year a last minute trip might be possible with DVC- I know December and Easter week are totally out- summers at the beach resorts...
This is good to know.

I know HH books up in the summer, but you could try VB. Our guide told us you really don't need the "home resort" there if you plan on summer trips. Don't know how "last minute" you could make it, but maybe combine with WDW stay.

I've been to WDW at different times of the year but my favorite was going in May. The crowds weren't bad and it was still hot enough to lay out.

The worse time for me was August.:scared1: Never again! Very crowded and hot.

  • Heat
  • Crowds
  • Florida Resident Seasonal Pass Blackout Dates!!!

I understand that December would be busy for DVC members because of the low points... but how does that translate to park attendance? Are they packed with people?... because I just reserved for the second week in december thinking I was brilliant for going at this time... now this thread gives me the impression I just screwed up... did I?

I have been there 2nd week in December twice and it was WONDERFUL- very low crowds at the parks, restaurants...
