Hello. Ive booked our trip for this coming December with 9 days on i drive and 5 at POR.
Does anyone think it will be extra busy due to the 50th celebrations? I never gave this a thought before booking up. I know the closer you get to Christmas the busier but presumed the couple of weeks prior would be quieter ( well, it says that in the brochures anyhows!!) but just didnt consder the 50th celebrations. Ive read different threads of people finding availability is less than in other years. Any advice?? ::MickeyMo

Exactly when in December are you going? It is extremely quiet in early December but over Christmas itself the parks are at their busiest!

We leave 8th December and get to POR on 17th - I guess thats when it gets busy then Paul!!!!

We arrive on the 15th December until the 29th, staying at the Dolphin. I've been doing quite a bit of investigations in crowd levels and my conclusions are that the first week of our stay the crowds will be fairly light, slowly increasing towards Christmas. From the 24th onwards crowds levels will be at their peek, especially as the 24th and 25th fall on a weekend.

Not sure whether the 50th aniversary celebrations will have that much affect on the crowd levels at a period that is already at maximum capacity. Disney tends to spread their aniversary celebrations over about 18 months, so there is no real rush to get to WDW and see any special celebration attractions, apart from possibly in May, when the celebrations start and a few new rides and attractions open for the first time.

So, arriving on the 17th you should enjoy around 5 days of relatively low crowds :)

POR is my favourite resort - you will love it there :)

I don't think the crowd levels will be affected due to the 50th Anniversary Celebrations, the week in May when the celebrations are kicked off is another matter.

Disney often have celebrations, we were there when they celebrated the millenium and an anniversary of one of the parks and the crowd levels were just the same as when we have gone during a non celebration 18 months.
