I was wondering what some of our conservative and liberal folk out there thought of Bush's speech.

I must say, he was a very different person in terms of his speech. On the whole, I thought it was a good speech, that probably could have left a few things out, but still a good speech.

I wish bush would have talked ONLY about the remembrance. About the families, victims, and the heroes of 9-11. But no, he has to talk about why we need to be in Iraq, how we can't change course, etc. He kinda politicized it too much. Argh, Dubya!

BTW, Saxsoon, nice lower Avatar (username icon). :thumbsup2

I thought it was a great speech. He remembered the victims and Hero's of that horrible day, and why fighting terrorism is so important.

I think you already know what some of the responses will be. You've been on the liberal thread enough times to know the passion they feel about the current POTUS. I'm not going to fault them for having that passion either, it's their right as Americans. 911 shouldn't be about political arguments or differences, but that's damn near impossible. Let's face it, you're probably going to have the conservatives like it and the liberals probably hate it. This POTUS brings out some strong emotions in fellow Americans.

I thought the speech was pretty good and a standard Presidential speech but nothing to write home about. I was kind of blah and sad about the whole day and it's probably just spilling over into my review. I just wish the news in his speech would be better after 5 years have passed sinced September 11th 2001. I just hope that next year on 911, 2007 that there's better news to be had and real work finally being done on the WTC site.

I liked it. I too felt like their were a few points he could have left out, but over all, tied it together nicely.

Oh, his good old "stay the course" speech. It doesn't sound like I missed much. It's just too painful to listen to. I figure I'll read it online tomorrow.

I read an interesting article yesterday about the winning design for the WTC memorial. While it's beautiful and very meaningful executing it is a logistical nightmare. There's so much water involved that'll have to be heated in the winter since victims families don't want it shut down during the cold month. The heat will create steam that'll end up freezing on the sidewalks. The waterfalls will have to be faced with granite or so other non-corrosive material or they won't last long.

The whole thing didn't sound very promising.

It was a great speech.

"The war we fight today is more than a military conflict; it is the decisive ideological struggle of the 21st century."

--President Bush

Didn't see it. Also, I forgot the 2nd half of "Path to 9/11" was on.

Refused to watch it. Don't need to hear 'stay the course' one more time.

wow, its so funny he says that and yet we're losing badly on both fronts.

I agree that he should have stuck with what he was good at, remembering the victims of 9/11 while trying not to crack a half smile

I trhought he had a great speech. I think it is very important that we are reminded that we are still in danger. These evil people are not going to give up on trying to kill more innocent civilians until we all subscribe to their radical ideas. The war is not won yet. I think it would be fatal to have a president who didn't recognize this and continue to remind the people of this. It appears as though many of us have already forgotten the recent past. Flame away.

:furious:

kidding. But im tired of people telling us not to forget! How could we forget that these savages attacked us on our soil and still attack our troops. The media are just a bunch of tools trying to profit off this tragedy. The sad music, the footage of 9-11. I'll never forget being in my room and hearing a huge rumbling boom then looking out my room window to see smoke coming outta the pentagon. We are not gonna better ourselves from having to see this same footage every year. There is a barbaric religion out there with an urge to hurt those who dont have the same belief. Its a sad fact of life. Islamic extremest will never be fully exterminated. I just dont need the media to act like they are doing all this 9-11 "journalism" so we wont forget.

Yeah, like those in government helping to radicalize a LOT more muslims into the hatred of the U.S. so they can plan MORE attacks against us, while we aren't even looking for the one leader responsible for 9/11
