first of all the movie and the skits are opinions of other people in the country. Republicans can do the same about kerry. and who is our president? who gave up because he knew bush was going to win? yea...my point exactly :)

Obviously Kerry won over my state :crazy2: Massachusetts .. which is kinda sad.
He also won at my school's mock election..
My ex-boyfriend voted for him..

*sigh* ...
I think my friend Mark and I were the only people in my school that were going for Bush.

Personally i didn't like either candidates. As much as I am against Bush and his policies, Kerry didn't do anything to convince me he'd make a good president.

Those who like Bush, I don't want to have an argument. I want to have an intelligent debate. I am able to admit faults in the Democrats, heck they're terrible right now and are unorganized.

But it seems with Bush fans it is harder for them to admit when they're guy or party has made mistakes. However, that is not what I want to know or hear.

I want to know why you think Bush makes a good President.

Oh, and while I agree with much of Fahrenheit 9/11, most of it is propoganda. He does take some good shots at Bush though.

hm, i want to know why you think Bush makes a bad president?

I'm not old enough to vote but when I come of age, I'm still not going to vote. (reglious reasons)

I will explain in this post why I feel Bush is not a good President starting with domestic issues and then focusing on his foreign policy:

In my opinion the state of this country's economy right now is not good. Hopefully, it will get better, and if it does, I will give Bush credit. But the fact is that we had a surplus when Bush came into office and even b4 9/11 the economy was beginning to go down. Now, I know many Republicans blame this on the "Clinton Bubble" but I don't by that.

Bush's stance on social security is just a program I don't trust. Social Security should be what it means: secure. It should not be a stock you could trade and risk.

Gay Marriage is a touchy subject, and I won't get into it that much, however I feel an amendment against it is insane. The government should not have a right to define marriage. It should be seperate. Plus, I don't feel the Republicans have any duty to defend the sanctity of marriage in the USA when just last week I saw "Who wants to marry my Mom."

And this all ties into religion. Now, I'm not a devoutly religious person, but I love reading the Bible. The stories in there are amazing and a lot of it really is a good moral code. Now when I think of good morals I think tolerance, standing up for what you believe and fairness.

It's my opinion many of the right wing republicans use the Bible where it shouldn't be used. It's implied in our constitution that there is a seperation of church and state. That means we shouldn't use the Bible to dictate
our laws or decide how we live our lives if we don't want to live our life according to it. At the same time to come to some kind of medium, I also think it is ridiculous how some in the left wing want to completely ban religion from our country.

Now, onto foreign issues. In my opinion the war in Iraq was not necessary. When we first went in it was about finding WMD's.... only problem, there were none. In fact the ltest report is that Sadamm did not have the capability of making WMD;s.

Next, it became a war of freeing the Iraqi people from an evil dictator. This does not make sense to me because there are plenty of other evil dictators in the world and opressed people we will not help. Plus hte United States has a long history this past century of supporting dictatorships in Latin America, as long as they are Pro-American.

Bush likes to say America is safer. I don't believe that. Instead of making us safer he has stirred up the hornet's nest and has generated more hate towards America.

Bush also likes to talk about the triumph of democracy in the Middle East. Well this triumph of democracy could result in a regime that hates America even more. Democracy is a wonderful thing, but it could end up in mobocracy where the rule of the masses is accepted and that could be dangerous.

Look at what is happening in Lebanon for example. Bush is stating that this is again the triumph of democracy. The theory is democracy spreads, the world is safer. However, the regime that the Lebanese people are about to vote in is a terrorist group and anti-american.

Back to the War in Iraq. I hope the troops come home as soon as possible because I don't thikn we had any business there. Instead of focusing on more serious threats like North Korea and Iran we became focused on Iraq. now, I'm not gonna scream, "OIL" like other people, but I think it's foolish to think that Bush didn't have seperate intentions besides spreading democracy.

And that is where I want to end: Bush's decleration of the spreading of democracy, or as I like to call it, the new "White Man's Burden." I want to get things straight first and explain myself. Like Bush I agree that democracy is western civilization's greatest creation. That being said I think it is dangerous to try to enforce any form of government on a people. We may feel that the idea of freedom is democracy, but in the Middle East they may have a radically different idea of what freedom is.

I feel that as long as the neo-conservatives rule the country there will be problems. And this isn't just becaue I'm a democrat. We'd probably ahve similar problems if a hardcore libereal took office. We need to find a middle ground and close this cultural divide.

To paraphrase Bill Maher: "it's time for the red states to stop thinking that blue staters are a bunch of heathens who perform abortions and euthanasia. And it's time for the blue states to stop thinking that the red states are just flyover land between California and New York."

We need to come together when it comes to ceartain things. I know I won't be able to convince you to think the way i do, the same way you won't make me think the way you do. However, for America to survive we must live up to our name: United.

Well, that's it for me. I'd love to hear some responses and continue this debate.
