Have no fear! With polls this low what is one to do?? Hmm let me think. How about bombs away in Iraq? I know we were told the mission was accomplished three years ago but hell he has gotten away with one lie after another. Let's kill some more and show how tough we are on terrorism. Maybe his polls will go up? Bloodletting is good for that!
Oops, it looks like major combat operations weren't over in Iraq 3 years ago.
Of course, the "Cold warriors" and the pre-9/11 strategists who truly make up the Bush administration call in the big guns, give the mission a $0.90 title, and will call it a great success in a week or so. And the Bush faithful will carry the water once again.
Start the countdown on my mark............now.
The guerilla fighters who make up the insurgency will melt back into the general population and start up again when the time is right. That's the nature of guerilla warfare. Obviously, the lesson wasn't learned in Viet Nam. Then again, how could it? During the Viet Nam war, people like John Kerry were getting shot at while Bush was getting bombed in Texas and Cheney was getting his 5 deferments because he had "other priorities".
Btw, will someone please pass on to Joe the fact that the insurgency is made up of Iraqis and not foreign terrorists as he wants to believe. He still believes "
We're fighting over there so
we don't have to fight them over here".
Other than causing more American/Iraqi deaths and the torpedoeing of more American tax dollars, it'll be Iraqi business as usual in 3 weeks to a month.
It's time to get out. Murtha is right. The US has done everything that can possibly be done militarilly. It's time for the Iraqis to either win it all or lose it all. And, btw, the American troops better keep an eye on those Iraqi troops with their new and improved American supplied weapons. A little Shiite-Sunni revenge might be in the air.
And what was this new Iragi unity government doing during "Operation Swarmer"? They met in a
30-minute session to come to some agreement and then went home. Wow!
