buses with littles?

Advice, if it's late at night and you see you are about to get on a full bus, wait for the next. My one year old threw a huge fit as he was tired and cranky and didn't want to be held on the bus when we stood, longest ride ever!!

Do you have access to a car or rental car? We have a very active 2 year old (who will be 3 months shy of 3 at the time of our trip) and are also staying at POR. We are planning on driving & parking our car most days. Buses could be stressful before I had a kid, stroller, and all of the gear. It seems easier to just drive so we can go to the car, throw the stroller in the trunk and head back to POR. I still haven't figured out if we're going to drive to MK though.

DH & I used to use the bus system in WDW. Once we had kids, we went the rental car route. It was so much easier with babies/kids/strollers/stuff. Now we rent a car even if we go without the kids. I like being able to leave when I want to and not have to wait for the bus. I know I'll get a seat in my car!

If you can afford it, a rental car will make things so much easier. We used the buses with 19 month old twins and people gave up their seats every single time if it was full so we were lucky I guess. But the overall time spent waiting for the buses, stooping all around the resort and the travel time was way too much. We rented a car on our next trip and it was worth every penny.

I totally agree with this! It is so much easier with little ones if you have car. No waiting for a bus. You can walk straight to your car and head to your resort. Even the times we have went without kids we don't use the buses.

Lest everyone think you can always walk to your car, that walk can be a long one. Disney does have shuttles that run out to the parking lots, if you are not one of the lucky few that get to park up close. So you may have either a long walk or a wait to get shuttled to your car. Also, if you need to shuttle to your car you need to empty and fold up your stroller.

So driving is not always as simple as a quick walk to your car and you are on your way. It can involve waiting to even get to your car.

The buses aren't too bad just keep in mind you may have stand at some point. However I have found that most adults will give up their seat for a child/parent with child to sit. I have rode the bus from MK to Pop standing, while holding a stroller and a sleeping 10 month old and survived to tell the tale. Just watch out for the turns. :)

Wow, such venom. There is nothing wrong with waiting for the next bus but when you have little ones who are either exhausted, asleep or having a melt down, waiting another 20 + minutes can be exhausting. Furthermore, we never even had strollers to deal with so your assumption that there was paraphernalia is wrong. We had exhausted kids and often had to try to hold them while standing. I will tell you I broke my back 3 years ago and still gave up my seat for mothers with kids when we came 5 months later!. I have seen men, young people etc not do the same. It is a shame that this is the way people view life. The right thing to do is how it used to be--give up your seat despite being equally as exhausted (and I am not necessarily referring to you if you are a senior, just people in general) Even as young girls, my girls give up their seats to the parents and to the elderly. That is how it should be. I can well imagine the Titanic now a days--everyone for themselves, no chivalry, no sense of what is the right thing to do.
I don't understand why you would stay at the parks so late to the point that your kids would be exhausted or asleep and then expect someone else who may be equally tired or have a hidden disability to give up their seat for you.
