Been horseback riding on our last 3 visits to the Fort. Thoroughly enjoyed all 3 events. Laid back, peaceful, quiet. However....
Returning to the stables requires riding your horse across that very busy road at the transportation hub intersection in order to return to the corral. Last time, a bus driver saw our line of riders approaching and gunned his bus to get through the crossing area before we did. Needless to say, the noise and the visual of that large object moving towards us spooked a few horses. The lead horse (ridden by CM) and mine (#2 in line), along with 3-4 others behind me, all went into the flight portion of the fight-or-flight response mode. Heads bucking, feet kicking, all in very close quarters. We handled it successfully, lasting 10-15 seconds or so (definitely longer than bronc ridin' at the rodeo). Thankfully, the younger riders (ages 10-14) were far enough back in line to remain comfortably in their saddles. That was truly an "unsafe" move by that particular driver.
Question: Anyone else experience less than courteous, perhaps even unsafe, bus drivers on the Fort in regards to horseback riding? Or anywhere else during your transit around the Fort?
Any idea to whom I should communicate this incident so as to prevent it in the future? Would that actually make a difference? TIA.
