Busch Gardens

Seeing as it's only five months today that we're heading off for some Florida sun, all I can think about are three weeks of theme park heaven!! This time I have a five-park flexiticket and so will be visiting Busch Gardens, I've done a bit of reading up on the place and whilst apparently it doesn't compare to Disney/Universal in the presentation and appearance stakes, the reason we've got the tickets is for the roller coasters!

I now there's a new one being built at the moment that should be open when we're there , but has anyone got any comments on the ones that are there already? And which are the best at Disney/Universal?

We went to bush in 2001 and thought it was great . The coasters are some of the best i've been on with MONTU being my fav . We couldn't do everything in one day so went back again towards the end of our hol. IMO it's defently worth a trip. Any questions feel free to ask.

First thing I wondered is how long does it take to get there, we're staying at the Sheraton just outside Seaworld and I understand our flexi-ticket includes a coach to Busch Gardens, we can apparently get on this at Seaworld which is perfect .

I must admit to being a coaster addict, I think the best in Orlando is Kraken which justs shades the Hulk coaster at IOA, but apart from that there's not too much else (Spiderman doesn't qualify as a coaster!) and I thought the Mummy ride at Universal Studios was disappointing. However as Busch Gardens has a few different coasters we decided to try them out.

Coasters aside, what else is there to keep us interested?

We have done it twice now and love busch garden's.The coasters are the best.

Gwazi is a double wooden coaster,though they only had one open when we went.Its very fast and knocks you about abit but its great(a bit like grand national at blackpool )but faster and better.

Montu and kumba both big coaster's with lots of loops.
Scorpion and python are both quite small and over quite quick but great for the younger ones that are not big enough to ride the bigger ones.Python has a double loop.

Tydal wave is what it says and you WILL get very wet.


Could go on but im sure you get the picture lol

Busch gardens is very underrated in my opinion-the coasters are fab as is the river rapids and safari.Also try the pirate ship but dont have any loose change in your pocket as it goes the whole way over.Have to agree with you about kracken,still the best.

I agree the BG is underrated. It doesnt keep up with USF & WDW in the looks department but that just adds to it's charm.

I went way back in 1998, though wasn't into rollercoasters then. DH and DS went on the Kumba and thought it was fantastic.

Personally I enjoyed seeing the animals, especially the gorillas which you could see a lot easier than the ones at AK.

In 2000 I discovered rollercoasters (lost my fear of them going on Rock 'n' Roll Rollercoaster) and I would say IoA has the best rollercoasters. Going back in July and intend going to Busch and trying the rollercoasters (ones that you are harnessed in only though).

And also great for a non-coaster fan! Loved seeing all the animals, especially the tigers, and the Rhino Rally was great fun, much better than Kilimanjaro Safari at AK (although I did like that)

I hate coasters although I love watching other people have fun on them! We all loved Busch Gardens, will deffo go back there in 2007.

I love Busch Gardens, personally I think the wildlife side is much better than AK also. The coasters are something else.

On Gwazi a woman sat next to me lost her glasses she was wearing, they just flew right off !! absolutely hilarious it was....

It's laid back atmosphere is the perfect antidote to Disney and Universals hustle and bustle.

It's not that far to drive.

As far I cam remember it took bout 60-90 mins to get there on the coach from seaworld! There a a couple of log flumes wich on one you will get socked during and after the ride if your not careful!. The animal side of the park IMO is also great. There is also rhino rally which is sorta like a very small version of the safari in AK with a raft ride in the middle. hope this helps

I can't wait to go to Busch Gardens, it's my partners first time in Florida so we'll be going over all the things I've already done like Disney, Universal and Seaworld, so going to BG will be a new experience for us all.

Without wanting to sound like a raging alcoholic, is there a beer school like there is at Seaworld? MMM.... beer...!

yes, there is a budweiser school.My dad went to do it but for some reason had missed it,he kept changing his clothes and going back in for more beer though

Busch is fantastic and it'll be even better when the new coaster (SheiKra) opens. I'm hoping that will be a great coaster, two 90 degree drops, one fo them three times bigger than Oblivion @ Alton Towers and the rest of is a true coaster ride. The other three major coaster at BG are well worth riding.
Montu is currently my fav Florida coaster followed by Kraken & The Hulk. I', hoping the new Busch one will top my list

Now that's a great bit of advice - take a change of clothes for the beer school!

It was the new coaster that convinced me to get the tickets that included Busch Gardens, I've seen a few photos and it looks superb!

I think in the end he went back 3 times for more,just kept changing his clothes and putting sun glasses on.
