Hi, our family is planning a change from our annual trip to WDW. We live in NJ and are thinking perhaps of driving to Williamsburg and spending a week there. I think they sell a $90 ticket for both parks for 7 days. This is probably the cheapest we will find. Has anyone stayed in Williamsburg area? Is it nice? Are the parks fun? ( I know they are not going to be as good as WDW). We were also thinking of visiting Jamestown and stopping at Wash DC for 2-3 days on the way home from Virginia.

I live in the area :cool1: We go to Busch Gardens or Water Country almost weekly spring to fall. Busch Gardens for 20 years in a row has been voted the cleanest park. Our DD is 4, and always asks to go to both water country and Busch gardens. Plenty for the young and the young at heart. Sometimes discounts come out for tickets. We have platinum tickets that get us into all of the Busch parks, so I don't pay attention really well. They had something on Groupon last year. It is a nice area, and if you like history their is a lot to do.

We are local also. We love Busch gardens. we went once a week last summer but only did BG not WC. My kids loved it, both the 1yo up to the 12 yo. Great option if not going to WDW.

We could easily see most of the park and do all the rides in a day, though a long day. We also stayed in Williamsburg for a week and had plenty to do. It's hot though in the summer so that limits some things.

Thanks for the info. We have pretty much decided not to do Disney this year, but it's hard after going yearly for 8 years. My 4 year old, is always asking "when are we going back to Disneyworld?"

We went the summer my DS was 4 and it was 100 degrees every day. We had the combo ticket and went to WC until about 2 or 3, left had dinner and went to BC from about 6-close when it was a lot cooler. Even all my trips to WDW I have never experienced heat like that but the combo ticket worked great. My DS was still young enough for the Sesame street area and loved the water park.

We went last year and had a great time. Our then almost 3 year old loved Bush Gardens. They had a promotion last year if you bought a one day ticket at normal price it was good for the rest of the season so we went to BG several times that week. We did do C. Williamsburg but not Water Country. It was a much more relaxing vacation for us at least than Disney.
