Researching for a trip there this Summer. Do you think my family could find a condo for under $900 for a week? Needs to sleep 4, 1 bedroom with pullout sofa is ok. Would prefer to be as close to BG as possible. Thanks for any help you can offer.
Most likely. When we go, we stay at the Powhatan Plantation, because we have an RCI timeshare. It's about a 15 minute drive from there to BGW, and the property is gorgeous. Without knowing when you're going, I did a search on them for June 8-14, and they have a one bedroom condo (which sleeps 4 comfortably) for an average of $80-90/night. The only thing is you have to pay for the whole week when you make the reservation, and you can't change or cancel it; if you want to be able to change/cancel it or pay when you get there, it starts at $100/night.
Williamsburg Vacations looks like a good site with info about hotels/condos/resorts in the area, if you'd like to look at the specific dates you'll be traveling. Plus you can purchase tickets if you want to do other things while you're there, too.
Powhatan has a great pool area, an indoor pool with racquetball courts, tennis courts (equipment is available to use), games and movies you can check out for use in your condo, bikes you can rent, a playground, and mini golf (I think it was $20 for unlimited use for our entire group for the week). If you stay in a ground floor unit, you usually have a private hot tub, too. My nieces loved sitting on the back deck first thing in the morning while they waited for the "oldies" (me and mom) to drag their butts out of bed and get presentable for the day

and watch the bunnies, ducks, squirrels, swans, and other assorted critters. After a few visits, they even insisted on buying a small bag of baby carrots for the rabbits, and kept stealing pieces of bread to feed to the ducks and squirrels who, to their delight, would come right up to them to get the food if they held still enough.
