DH just decided to do a quick 2 day trip. We haven't taken any vacay this summer. We are trying to do something cheap but fun. We have 3 boys ~ 7,4,4. Any specials for Busch Gardens Va?? Can anyone help??

Rent points from someone and stay at a Wyndham resort. At check in let them sign you up for a tour and get a couple of free Busch tickets. If you stay at Kingsgate (one of the 3 Wyndham resorts in Williamsburg), they have a $5/night activity fee and this allows you unlimited access to a rather large game room - no tokens required. Mini golf is also included.

We live 2.5 hours away but still like to stay overnight sometimes. I recommend staying in Newport News because it is a lot cheaper and you are only 15 minutes away. We were there last Monday and didn't have a line for anything. Now is a good time to go.

Virginia Beach will be off season after this weekend and prices for oceanfront hotels are CHEAP in the off season. Hilton is GORGEOUS there..but there are a couple of oceanfront HOliday Inns, Marriott Courtyard all with pools and still great beach weather. Easy drive to Busch Gardens. There is also a Great Wolf Lodge by Busch Gardens which is an indoor water park (super fun!)
Have a great time!

I do not recomend staying in Virginia Beach. A lot of the times we hit traffic going into the tunnels backed up about 4 miles sometimes 10-12 miles.

I agree stay on the other side of the (HRBT) Hamton Roads Bridge Tunnel and not in Va Beach. We are not in the full off seasson since at the end of the summer we have the Neptune Fest. So hotels are looking to make that last buck before the winter gets here.

Stay in Newport News, VA. Yorktown, VA. Hampton, VA
The Ft Eustis hotels are the closest to BG and the Mariners Museum is right on top of (CNU) Christopher Newport University.

Hampton is the furthest.

Yorktown is part of the triangle and you can see some cool historic sites and the Colonial Pkwy runs to Williamsburg from here.

BG is open Fri Sat Sun and Howl O Scream starts on the 19th. Looks like the Discovery tix is the way to go if you are going to be here for a few days. If you plan on coming during Howl O Scream it will take more than one day to see it all.

I'm new to this forum thanks to my wife that is a veteran! I hope the info helps and if not please let me know. That way I won't feel the urge to post and instead just read!!!!:rotfl:

If you plan to hit Williamsburg itself you might want to look into their Boiunce Pass. We used this the last week of Aug... includes Busch Gardens and Williamsburg (and Water Country during the summer months) and children under 5 are free. I bought our tickets online and it ran us about 270 for 2 adults and 1 child plus 1 free.

The Bounce pass is good for 7 days from first use.

I live in the area and went to college and grad school in Williamsburg, and I agree with what others said as far as don't stay in VA Beach unless you really, really want to. The traffic in the evenings and mornings too can be horrible. Williamsburg hotel prices should be coming down now, but the Yorktown suggestion is a good one. Try James City County hotels too.

A good place to eat at in Busch Gardens is the Festhaus in Germany. My favorite is the turkey sandwich with German potato salad. Exactly the same as what they serve in Sea World Orlando's Hospitality House. If you have AAA, show your membership card and you should get a discount on tickets as well.

If you visit Duke of Gloucester Street in Williamsburg, I must recommend The Cheese Shop. I've ordered the same baked ham and cheddar sandwich from them for 7 years strong now, haha. :rolleyes1
