Hello: Any suggestions/recommendations on busing it from Downtown Disney to shopping areas? We're not planning on renting a car. Thanks Canadian Tom

There is public bus transportation in Orlando. I'd assume buses go to the malls. I'd look on the bus systems website for routes.
Personally I would take ride share. I wouldn't want to try and figure out bus routes for a strange city. It's not likely to be direct.

If there’s a specific shopping area - Google map it and then hit public transportation option instead of car to get a sense.

i agree that Orlando's bus system is extensive and if not familiar is intimidating

to get from WDW to a 'shopping area' is probably going to require to go to a transfer station and change bus. Here's one of the maps of A route that serves WDW

Now I just ran a 'test' booking and lyft from the Contem' to Florida Mall would be $26 'now' .... use this as an estimate as UBER/LYFT prices are 'dynamic' <curiously UBER said "not available at this time">

here's all the route maps for the bus service https://www.golynx.com/maps-schedules/routes-schedules.stml

over all system map . . . https://www.golynx.com/resources/pdf/LYNX-System-Map_Web_121221.pdf

what kind of shopping are you looking for? General mall? Outlet mall? Just want a Target or Walmart?

<did you know that all the major theme parks have souvenir stores in the airport's central 'mall' ... Disney, Universal, Sea World, Kennedy Space Center ..... when people were standing in long lines to buy a 'wand' when Harry Potter opened at Universal you could grab your choice off a rack at the gift shop at the airport!>

Lots of good that does, the wand chooses the wizard. Lol
