We are staying at SSR for the first time in May. We are debating getting a rental car for the week or just using the towncar service to pick us up and drop us off.
For those of you who have stayed at SSR, what is your feedback on the bus transportation? How long of a wait did you have going to and coming back from the various parks? Etc, etc. Thanks in advance..... :)

We have stayed at SSR several times and have never had a problem with transportation. A few times we have just missed a bus and have waited about 20-25 minutes. Usually about 10-15 minutes. If you don't rent a car (which we don't do) have you considered using Magical Express rather than a town car while it is free?

We stayed last year during value season, so a slower park time.

The only time we really waited for a bus was in the morning going to MK once. Probably just missed the bus but that was it.

The bus service to and from the various resorts were never a problem while staying at the SSR during any of our last 4 visits. However, when we happened to be in the park at closing after watching the fireworks we did choose to return to the SSR via a taxi just because I do not like to wait and be squished on a bus that late at night.

We were there in Jan. and used Magical Express and did not have a car either. It seemed like we waited longer for buses than we did at POR, where buses are always coming and going. Sometimes we only waited a few minutes, but most of the time it was about 15 minutes. It was no big deal except the kids used that time to torture each other. Our longest wait during our trip was not in the parks, it was waiting for the bus from MK to SSR on our last day there. I think we waited 25 minutes that time. Still, we would rather use the buses than worry about driving and having a car.

We were there in Jan and used a town car to and from the airport and relied on Disney buses while we were at the resort. We never had a problem with the bus service to go to any of the parks. If we wanted to visit another resort we walked over to DTD and caught a bus to the resort....no bus issues there either. We never rent a car and always use the buses...no problems.

I stayed there last Easter...and that was one of my little issues. It was my first stay DVC and I wondered if more DVC'ers used cars...I think they do. But I really had no major problem using the busses...one day we rented a car and it was nice to hop and go. If you like to hop and go, rent a car, it is not much more expensive than a TC. If you are going to try Magical Express(free) rent a car for a few days for about a $100.

we were there last week and used ME and the bus services for the first time - before we always hired a car because of the kids (1 and 3 last time - 2 and 4 now) it was so much easier - the kids even thought the buses were fun - and i like the idea of being dropped off right at the parks rather than parking miles away and having to push the strollers forever.

A couple of times we just missed a bus - saw it pull away from the stop - then we had about 20mins to wait

found it easy to get to other resorts such as AKL and the GF by the short walk to DTD

from now on it'll be disney transportation for us

We are from the UK and generally hire a car for the length of our vacation for convenience especially when travelling to non Disney destinations. However when we stayed at SSR in Oct 2004 on the occasions when we chose to use Disney transportation we never waited more than 15mins except for the boat transfer which was close to 30mins, and of course if your not in a major rush, a ten minute stroll to DTD and you have buses in and out all the time

We just returned from SSR. If you are going to/from the main parks, you shouldn't have to wait too long for a bus. If you want to go anywhere else, I'd highly recommend a car. This resort is HUGE. We stayed in the Springs section and it worked great for us, since we spent a lot of time just hanging out at the resort.

We found the transportation at SSR to be similar and at times better than most Disney resorts.
