Bus Transportation...better at BCV?

We recently returned from a trip to VWL and although I LOVED the decor, etc. of the Wilderness Lodge, I was so frustrated with the transportation. Although, it seemed to make sense to me that the boat to the MK would stop at the Fort Wilderness, since you can view the dock from the WL dock, having the bus go all the way out, then back into the Fort Wilderness area to stop, before going ANYWHERE else, took SO long. To add insult to injury, there was NO direct bus to MK. There was a bus to the TTC where you then had to transfer to a monorail to get to MK. I guess my first mistake was chosing VWL for it's proximity to MK. I think I could have gotten their faster from any other resort..

SO.....We are already planning another trip, thinking maybe we'll try BCV, but I figured I better do some research beforehand. Just wondering how many stops the buses make getting to and from the parks? Is there a dedicated bus to MK or are all the resorts getting rid of the direct bus to MK??

Help... :confused3

The last time we were at BCV, the bus went straight to MK. It is not a dedicated bus just for BCV. You will share with YC, BWI, Swan and Dolphin. I remember it being this way everytime we took the bus, but some have said that during peak times of the day they may use seperate buses for those stops. We usually drive 20 hours to get to Disney, so the waits for Dis Transportation doesn't bother me too much, but I can understand the frustration sometimes.

THe buses at BCV share w/BC Inn...in the morning, the AK and MK buses go straight to the parks; the water parks share....one (I forget which) shares w/DTD...

COming back, the buses stop at the Swan & Dolphin, and at the Boardwalk Y Yacht Club, too...we never much cared about that, tho, as all are easy walking distance from each other...if we're on a crowded bus, we just get off at the first stop and walk to whichever property we're staying at...(so far--pre DVC m'ship--usually, BC, BW or YC)...

Epcot/International Gateway is a short walk...depending on what room you get at the BCV, it could even be a shorter walk than to the bus stop! MGM is a bit longer...but very pleasant. Also there are boats (that stop at Boardwalk, Swan & Dolphin, Epcot & MGM...the boat rides are so pleasant they're almost an attraction in and of themselves.

We've never stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, so can't compare there...we have stayed at the Allstars, Port Orleans/Riverside (when it was Dixie Landings), Coronado Springs, Boardwalk, Yacht Club & Beach Club...we find the bus rides are about equally efficient (or not)...depends on crowds and the luck of timing (just missing buses, getting to the bus stop just as the bus arrived)...

For us, we find the buses to DTD during the day are the worst (fewer)...we bought our DVC m'ship at SSR, and the only thing about that that makes me nervous is the transportation...we sure do love being able to just walk over to Epcot for dinner! BUt we also really enjoy DTD and spend less time there than we otherwise might because transportation is such a pain...maybe SSR will let us "scratch the DTD itch?"

Anyway, we've learned the best way to deal w/the buses is to (1) be glad they're there so we don't have to drive and (2) take it slow; if we don't expect a quick trip we won't be disappointed when we don't get one!

The AK bus shared with Blizzard Beach and the DTD bus shared with Typoon Lagoon the last time we were there. That was July of 2005 so it has probably changed since then at BCV. When we were at POP in August they used the same routes AK/BB and DTD/TL.

You'll read a lot of posts on DIS about how bus service was great/horrible from this resort or that resort. You read this so often, I'm convinced that each poster just ran into a streak of good/bad luck and that there really isn't a difference in the overall level of bus service at each resort. No - I'm not doubting that you had a poor experience at WL, I'm also not saying that it will be great at BCV; its the luck of the draw.

BCV shares a MK bus with YC not BWI.

But it is my understanding that the bus from WL to the TTC is a temporary situation until the construction at the MK bus stop is finished.

When I wanted to come back to BCV from MK last week, I could go to either the BW or the BC bus stop-it was the same bus. We stopped at BW!/BWV several times on our way back from MK.

We were there at the same time I think, Simba's Mom...the 17th-22nd in our case. I didn't take the MK bus this trip but my DH and son did and the MK bus was just for Y&BC. It is funny that the experiences could be so different at the same time. For the last couple of years now, when I've taken the MK bus back to BCV, it has just stopped at the YC before BC.

Do you mean there was a seperate stop at the MK for BW and Y&BC but that the same bus went to both stops?

Going to the BW before the Y&BC is also opposite the old route. :confused3

Yup, we were there at the same time-for me, 9/16-9/21. Yes, there were 2 different bus stops. However, thinking more about it, it may be that they only combine them when it's really a slow time. Once I went back after EMH eve, once an hour after park closing (I'm one of those people who likes to linger in the parks), and once fairly early in the day (when lots of people are still streaming into the parks, but I'd already been there several hours).

I was there 8-26 to 9-1 and the bus from MK to BWV ( with Swan n Dolphin ) was seperate from BC/YC busses.

Could be the time of year. We usually go in busy seasons and it seems like a lot more dedicated buses and boats (VWL boat always went directly to MK but did stop at FWL on the way home but we are not in a hurry at that point) for resorts.
