We are considering staying at Double Tree in DT Disney this summer. Looking for info on the bus system from here to Theme and water parks (trying to avoid a rent-a-car.) Are the busses as dependable as those from the on site hotels? We've stayed at P-Orleans and All-Stars and been satisfied. Will I be as happy as the bus system from Double Tree in DT Disney? Any advice/help hee is appreciated
Thanks!! pirate:

From what I understand, the hotels that are not disney owned have their own buses. They aren't constant like disney buses. They might run every hour or every 1/2 hour.

Is it close enough to walk to DTD? If so take a bus from there to a resort, then a resort bus to the parks. If not, check, double check, and triple check how their buses work from an offsite hotel. Some do things like 2 or 3 buses in the AM one at noon and one at an evening hour. Some you have to sign up for, and if you miss that bus, you will have to find another way back.

Many offsite buses only make a couple of trips per day to Disney property. And I'm not even sure Disney allows off site buses to go any other place than the TTC. But someone else may know that for sure. Don't quote me on that.

You could try and go over to DTD and use the Disney buses however the buses at DTD don't go directly to any of the theme parks. They only go to the Disney resorts and I think the TTC. So if you can get over to DTD from your offsite hotel (somehow) and then hop a bus to a park you can't.

However - you can take a resort bus from DTD to the Contemporary Resort and walk to MK (like a 6 minute walk). You can take a bus from DTD to the Beach Club or Boardwalk and walk into Epcot (maybe a 5 minute walk) or DHS (maybe 15-20 min walk). It's just AK you will need to probably take a bus to the TTC and transfer to an AK bus.

One thing to keep in mind, in my experience the bus service at DTD is much slower than the normal resort lines. I'm not sure why but others seem to have noticed this as well.
