Bus System: All-Stars Resorts vs. Pop Century?

a big one.

lots of time the all star all share the same bus. so you may be stopping 3 times (once at each resort) before it goes to the park.

Pop doesn't share with anyone. One bus stop at the resort then one stop at the parks. It goes to directly to the parks.

I have stayed the All Star resorts 7 times in the last 7 years.
Each stay was 7-10 days and I rode the bues every day.
I was never on All Star bus that went to all 3 All Star resorts going to the parks.
I have ridden several buses that stopped at all 3 resorts on the way back.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot, MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING

To me Bus Sharing at the All Stars is really a non issue.

In the mornings during Park opening hours each All Star usually has a dedicated bus.
During mid day it is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes it is all 3 but often Sports and Movies share and Music has it's own bus back. Each of the All Stars usually has it's own dedicated bus back from the MK.
That is a big plus. It seems like the Music bus stop usually has the shortest of the three All Star bus lines.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

Just an FYI

Both resorts tend to have crowded buses.

Pop has 2,880 rooms.
The All Stareach have 1,960 rooms.

That makes for a lot of guests riding the buses.

Have fun at Disney whever you choose to stay!:wizard:

I've stayed at Pop twice and the only time I've waited more than five minutes for a bus was one time for DTD. Outstanding bus service is one of the main reasons I'm staying at Pop again in January.

But Pop is so much bigger, would you have longer to wait for a bus if one if full and that many more people heading to 1 resort as oppose to AS

Pop has more buses than the all stars.

so when one leaves full - generally before it even leaves for the parks - there is another behind it.

leaving the park can be bad - but one night when staying at All stars sports - I started to count them

Pop had 5 buses, All Star Movie had 3 buses, all star music had 2 buses, before the all star sport bus came.

that say there were less people in line at the all star sport bus line.

Each of the three All Stars has 1960 rooms. So actually IT is much bigger. The combined rooms at the three All Stars is 5880.

That is true. That is why I said all of the values tend to have crowded buses .
They just have a lot of rooms with guests.
The All Stars usually have twice as many buses running as Pop since they have twice as many rooms.
It all evens out in the long run.
Also the time a guest gets to the bus stop changes the equation.
Most of the value resorts run multiple buses early in morning just before opening so the waits are only about 5 minutes between buses. After 10 AM the waits might be 15-20 minutes.
Then at Park closing the buses line up one after the other to transport guests back. Sometimes two buses are loading together. They pull a second bus up next to the first bus.

I think the bus service at the value resorts is very good.

I do wish WDW would provide a shaded (covered) area at the value resorts.
It is really a shame we have to wait out in the sun (or rain as the case might be) when we wait in line for the bus.

Just my 2 cents.

Can't comment on Pop as I've never stayed there. However, I've stayed at Sports twice, for several days each, and can probably count on one hand the # of times we've stopped at all 3 or even one of the other All Stars. I've found the bus service to be very good as far as # of buses and wait times. The only down side---usually very crowded!

I've stayed at POP and the bus service was super we never had to wait thats why I will be staying again at POP in August.

It is great to read that so many guests think the bus service at the values is very good.

I often read about poor service, and long waits, and mutiple stops at the mods and deluxes but it seems most of the value guests think the bus service is very good other than the fact that the buses can get very crowded.

Now if WDW would just built a covered area for the bus lines at the values.
Are there Disney execs out there listening?

We need a shaded area at the value resorts when we are waiting for the buses! TIA.

Just my 2 cents.

bid it is another thing based on price.

because the DVC, moderates, and deluxes have a shaded area.

only the value don't.

I am not sure price is the real reason the values do not have a shaded area.
I think it is because the values have several lines. There are seperate lines for each park. A couple of lines might share with a waterpark or DTD but I think each values has at least 4 or 5 dedicated lines.

At the mods and deluxes there is a covered bus area at each stop and the guests wait together until the bus for the park they are going to arrives.
Since there less guests waiting at each stop the area that needs be covered is not as large area that would be needed at the values.

I thought bus service from POP was great... Never had to wait more than 5 minutes...
