Bus stop renovations at MK??

This was posted at another site I frequent (where Disney is an OT sub-forum).

When we were there in late September, they were doing renovations at the bus area in front of the Magic Kingdom, so all the buses for Magic Kingdom were going to TTC instead. Hopefully that will be completed soon.

Does anyone know anything about this? Is it completed? We'll be there the first week of November. As it is, I'm starting to waiver on whether or not we want a rental car. We will not be doing any resort to resort and since this was our first trip, I'd decided the buses would be our best bet. However, if the above is the situation then I think I'll opt for the car. So what's really up? Thanks!

We were there 9/30-10/9 and the MK buses were running as usual. There is an area in front of the bus stops that is blocked off for refurbishment, but it didn't affect the buses at all.

HTH! :)

I agree with Fionasmommy. I mean, I was there at the same time (end of September, beginning of October) and while there were barriers up between the MK entrance plaza and the bus area, the buses were running as usual.
Common sense, really - Disney would have to designate eighteen more bus stops at the TTC? Nope. No point.

Just another confirmation from someone there last month - they were working right next to the bus stops, but the stops themselves were all up and running as usual. No detours or temporary stops or anything like that.

Repaving of the MK Bus loop has been going on for probably 4 years, and will probably go on for another 4 years. The reason it's taking so long, is that they can only close down small sections at a time, in order to keep the loops in service.

Removing the pavers, and replacing them with a solid pavement/concrete material strong enough to take the beatings of hundreds of buses every day takes a good deal of time.

However, never fear... the renovations only affect the stops in that every few months, the numbers might change.

In the WL FAQ, it says that the WL buses run to TTC and not directly to MK, so are there a few resorts that don't go directly to MK?

Yes - Wilderness Lodge and possibly Fort Wilderness buses go to the TTC. On the other hand, there is boat service that loops between those two properties and the Magic Kingdom, no transfer necessary

The FW/WL bus has historically had a route to TTC, and not MK. It was a recent enhancement to add direct MK service (in addition to the existing boat).

During construction, it's possible that WL will only be accessible via the boat, as in the past.
