Bus Service being changed?

I don't know about the rest of you but the recent posts here about bus service on demand has me worried. If this is addition to the official bus every 20 minutes - no problem. However, if Disney intends to let people accumulate at the stops before a bus is requested I think there will be major problems. I asked for a clarification from member services regarding the rumors of a new bus system. I'll post the reply when they get back to me.

Disney member service is quick. They replied to me and stated that no bus service changes are planned. Hopefully this was not stated to me because changes have not been made official yet.

When we were down at OKW the 1st week of March, we had a terrible experience with a bus from the West Side. I contacted a supervisor at WDW Transportation. He did say that they are implementing a new system. He did not go into detail and I did not ask. It will be interesting to see what this entails. Hopefully a more efficient bus system!

We were at BWV 3/13-3/20. One morning as we were waiting for a DTD bus 2 MK busses came one right after another, then 2 AK busses did the same thing, then 2 DTD busses. The DTD busses were there at the same time! I don't know what the deal was, it was not crowded and there was less than a total of a dozen people waiting for any bus so there was no demand. It seemed like the scheduled got skewed. Or do they often run multiple busses to the same park? It was around 10 AM on a very overcast day.

despite the fact that the buses supposedly run on a schedule...sometimes the waits are minimal and other times the buses seem to take forever. One real good piece of advice that I have seen on these boards from "Doc" is to ask for a bus schedule for your resort on your arrival or from a bus driver. I hope the bus service stays similar to what it has been in the past...running more buses during busier times and fewer buses during the quieter periods. We always have a car so we aren't impacted too badly by spotty bus service, perceived or real.

The other thing I have noticed about bus service is that it seems to matter greatly where you are staying as to how often the buses run and how crowded they are.

WL, no crowds, always buses waiting or just pulling up. All Star resorts, bazillions of people and mini-vans...OK, OK, they were really buses, but the number and frequency left large crowds waiting from about 1/2 hour before park opening until an hour or so after!

FWC buses running around the campground all the time, took a few minutes to get from loop 2500 to loop 100 where my friend had his camper. Loop 100 back to the 2500's took over 1/2 hour waiting, then bus took 40 minutes to get back out once we were on it!

Now, take car everwhere. No place to park? That's why God invented shruberies! (Just kidding!!!

We're just back from WDW and I spoke with several bus drivers about the new bus system. Then general opinion among the drivers is, "I don't want to be around here when they implement!" One driver told me, that even if the system ends up working, it will take a while to get the kinks out and that could be ugly. He also questioned bringing it on during Spring Break. He thought that was pretty dumb.

Olaf - that's not too reasurring is it? I go in July. Let's hope that when they institute this "new system", that they are able to work the kinks out quickly for all our sakes!!!
