Bus service at OKW?

I am hoping to get into OKW in a few weeks when my 7 month window opens up. I have heard the bus service is not so great? Is that true?

IMO, no, that's not true. We have stayed at multiple resorts on property, and I think the OKW bus service is some of the best. Granted, there are 5 stops within the resort, but the OKW buses only stop at OKW, unlike buses at some of the other resorts. In the more than 25 times we've stayed at OKW, there have only been a handful of times I thought the wait was extraordinarily long.

It is fine. Try and stay in buildings 23-25. First bus stop in, easy walk to last bus stop out (HH). we find the biggest problem with the buses is waiting for them in the parks, watching other buses come and go. But, you would also have spent that time getting to your car, or waiting for a monarail or boat, or sometimes walking to your resort.

Unfortunately, Disney has not yet come up with enough pixies dust to magially transport us to and from without any time passing!

Not sure where you heard that about OKW buses!! We have been staying at OKW since 1994, and one of the things we really like is that bus service is very good from there! We felt SSR had the worst bus service, but I think that has improved since our stay there too.

We own at both OKW and AKV, and I can't complain about bus service from either of them.

I don't think the bus service is that bad. The only thing I don't like about OKW is the multiple stops you make to get too and from the parks. Other than that they are pretty good.

The bus service has nothing to do with the resort. The difference in stops and whether multiple resorts are sharing a bus is an issue to consider, but the service itself is determined by the transportation department and could be hit or miss depending on the time of day, time of year, person who is dispatching, problems that occur with passengers or mechanical issues that need to be addressed, etc.

Every resort has people who say they've had good bus service and people who say they've had bad bus service. Every resort. So the common denominator for the bad service isn't the location but all the other stuff mentioned above.

Unfortunately it is human nature to voice complaints more often than praise. We have stayed at OKW twice and had no problems with the bus service. We never waited more than 10 minutes for the bus we were looking for going to a specific park. Hope y'all have as much fun as we have had!

It was okay when we stayed there. We had better service at SSR though. The thing that drove me nuts was the bus having to turn around in the parking lots. I don't know why it bothered me so much, but it did, lol. Luckily we stayed there during a short trip.

The key at OKW is to know the bus route and adjust accordingly. If we stay at South Point, we find that is the best spot for coming home from the parks...Second stop. If we are staying at HH, Peninsular or Miller's Road stops, we always get off at Peninsular and walk from there.

I've found the bus service at OKW to be no worse, no better than any other resort! Only once did the OKW bus have an issue picking us up from Typhoon Lagoon, not a bad record in eleven years of OKW ownership!

Can't say we've had any bus issues either. We've been members since 1998 and probably less then a handful of times we've waited more than 15 minutes. I can only think of one time that we had a real issue and that was when they had buses running from the West Side years ago. If I remember correctly OKW wasn't the only resort that never had a bus come through for about 45 minutes. So I think OKW is one of the best; much better than BWV where 5 resorts share one bus and it is the last bus stop. Took us 45 minutes to get from the Swan to DTD once.

We stayed there in november last year and did not have any problems at all . But remember when at disney everything is good .

True, bus service is terrible at OKW.

I prefer standing on an overcrowded bus with a bunch of screaming children every time of go somewhere. At OKW, I never got to do that. I always found a seat and sometimes we were the only party on the bus.

I prefer waiting at least 30-50 minutes for my bus to show up. At OKW, buses arrived every 15-20 minutes. Once in a while, I got to wait almost 30 minutes but that was rare.

I prefer a resort that has one bus stop about a mile away from my room. Damn OKW bus stops are numerous and within a short distance of any of the rooms at the resort.
