My brother and sister are flying Allegiant into Sanford and are wondering about economical transport to French Quarter. Rental and town car service are too pricey. ?Does anyone have any experience with bus or shuttle? Already checked the Sanford website. Thanks!

You saved quite a bit of money on the tickets flying into Sanford and you claim the car service and rental car are to pricey. You have a problem because there is no other way to Disney. The cheapest way is to walk, and that is about 50 miles. Good Luck.

The reason they could afford to go to Disney was because of the $200 round trip tickets on Allegiant. Hopefully, someone else has more helpful information.

edited because the tone of my original post read as being rude and that wasn't my intent.

Guests who fly into MCO can use DME for free transfers. Guests that fly into Sanford and even Tampa find renting a car is the cheapest way to go, even for two passengers.

Edd did give you helpful information. Rental car or car service is the cheapest way to go. The question is the cost to get to WDW, not the cost to get to Sanford. The rental car should cost around $50 each way. The question is if they could have gotten airfare to MCO for under $250 then they should have booked it.

Allegiant has an agreement with one of the rental car companies. Sorry about the crude comments. For those who can't afford the transportation from Sanford they should look into Orlando International and the DME which is free to guests who sign up for it.

Hey, Edd - what about Lynx? I know it'd be VERY time-consuming, but do they even service Sanford?

Thanks for the advice. Sometimes, the "good deal" isn't that good when you look at the big picture. DH and I were considering Allegiant, but after adding in six hours rd trip drive, gas, parking and the extra cost of Sanford transport, we decided to fly from home using our frequent flyer miles. Tickets are currently $522 from my home.

When are they flying in?

We flew into Sanford in August and I got a 9 day car rental with Alamo for $154 total. We are flying to Sanford in February and, while the car is $100 more (thru Dollar), our total cost is still less than flying the majors into MCO -- even with free ME factored in.

Seems like you could do one way rentals for about $50 each way. That's pretty reasonable.

Lynx does run through the Sanford airport, but I didn't mention them because I don't know their schedule. It would probably be a 3 hour ride to get to Disney on the Lynx.

Lynx will not let you bring Luggage on the bus and they do not have cargo compartments either. :surfweb:

I guess that answers that.
