We have always taken disney transportation the whole time we are at WDW. This time we will be traveling with a 3 month old an a 3 yo. 2 strollers etc. I have heard sometimes it is easier to drive to the parks, less waits etc. We will be staying at SSR. What do you think?

We usually drive from OKW to the parks, but that is because Mom travels in a wheelchair and we have a lift for the chair in the car trunk.

Driving does give you the freedom to come and go as you please without waiting for a bus. But no matter what resort you stay at, I strongly urge you to use the buses from MK. Otherwise you'll be parked at the TTC, and have to transfer to boat or monorail anyway.

DRIVE!

We drive everywhere except to MK.

To MK I would suggest either using the bus for this one park or parking at Epcot & taking monorail over to MK.

Agree about MK.
Even if you choose to drive to the other parks, take the bus to MK. The bus will drop you off at the park entrance. If you drive, you will need to take the parking lot tram to get from your parking spot to the TTC and then either the monorail or boat to get to basically the same place the bus lets you off.

Had a car for the first time in over thirty trips and LOVED it! Loved the valet parking too! Probably will never go back to the buses!

we had our first car in May, I will never go back to the buses. I have an 18month old and a five year old, too much work for the bus! We are flying out tomorrow morning and will pick up our rental at Orlando! :cool1:

Since you're in the company of two young children, perhaps driving might be more advantageous. Personally, as the children are old enough to get around for themselves, I like Disney transportation, as I like to park the car and forget for our vacation stays.

Don't forget the parking & WALK before & after the drive with the general public ..not why I pay big $$ and stay on site..:lmao:

IMHO... Disney transportation is "part" of the Magic! :wizard:
Then again...I've been doin' it for 35 yrs!! ;)

We like the buses/boat/monorail!

We actually look forward to the ride to the resort, just sitting back, talking about the day, taking in the scenery and relaxing. After being on our feet all day, its a nice break for us!

We've had a car before, didn't really see that much of a difference. Maybe 5 minutes here or there. Its a personal choice, just like which resort to stay/buy.

I always have a car but never drive. I rarely move my car. Use of the transportation is part of my reality escape. That being said I'm not travelling with an infant, a toddler and 2 strollers..

the buses will deliver to the front of the parks.

the parking lot varies - sometimes like Epcot mostly you get a good space.

AKL is pretty far.

MK is very, very far.

I don't think I would be driving especially in your situation. You would have to load the strollers in the car, then put each child in its child seat make sure the seat belt is working properly, then do the same for yourself. then when you get to the parks you need to undo everything - then either walk or take the trams to the park.

sorry but buses are generally faster than doing all that.

SSR got pretty good bus transportation when I was there.

the only bus you don't wait for is DD - that thing doesn't seem to follow the same route. It can easily be way over an hour for that bus. now considering that DD is just next door - something very strange is happening.

With two little ones at SSR, I'd say drive. I rarely recoomend a car on WDW property. But SSR is a very big resort. Having a car in your situation will be a huge help. If I was in your situation, I wouldn't think twice!

Drive. Even with putting everything into the car, there's a good chance you'll beat the busses.

Most likely your car will be closer to your room than the nearest bus stop.

You could have up to a 20 minute wait, waiting for your bus. When coming back you may have to wait again for your bus when leaving the park. (although you may have some wait time for trams at the various parking lots which can offset the bus times somewhat)

The bus will make several stops at the resort so either while leaving or coming back you'll be riding around the resort.

Except for MK, as everyone noted, take the car. You can take your time as needed and not feel rushed to get on/off a bus.

At Epcot, the walk to/from the bus stops is pretty far.

Another vote for drive, except to MK.

I can vouch for no bus rides to DD, if you are at SSR. Much quicker to walk, especially on the way back. Learned the hard way. Though we were there during Thanksgiving the bus service was great, if we had a car I wouldn't have taken it to the parks.

This was our first trip and we actually waited until the youngest was old enough to walk under his own power for the day,no diapers or pull-ups to tote and not a regular napper.

I think it depends on where you are staying, time of year and park you are going to.
