Bus or car for AKL visit?

Hoping to get some advice on the best way to handle this.
We are staying at POR, and we have a mid day break planned every afternoon.
On our AK day, I also want to visit AKL to check it out.
The plan is AK at RD, back to POR to swim and eat an early dinner at the food court, then go visit AKL and finish off with maybe a couple hours of AK in the evening, since it's now open later.

We will have a car, but really prefer to keep it parked and take busses the whole time we are there. It's a long drive to get there, and DH doesn't like nagivating in unfamiliar places.
I know we can't bus from POR to AKL directly.
Would it be a huge hassle and take too long to bus to AK after our break, then take a bus from there to AKL for our visit, then back to AK, then finally back to POR? Would we be better off driving to AKL then to AK? If so, is that a really confusing, difficult thing to navigate? As I said, we have never driven anywhere once we hit the resort, so not sure about navigating, parking at parks, etc.

What would you do?

I'd take the car. Much faster than taking the bus which is important with a busy back and forth day like you've got planned. Navigation is easy, just read the signs.

Normally I'm all for using Disney transportation, I drive down and park my car and never get in it again. But, I think since you aren't going to the park first, it might be easier to drive. Now, if you were going to the park first, then AKL and just needed the bus to get back to POR, I might say use the bus but to go to the park to catch the bus to go to AKL and back to the park, that's a lot of back and forth.

What if we visited AKL before our pool break? So, POR to AK, then AKL, then back to POR.
We would still have to take a bus from AKL back to AK, then get on another bus to get to POR, correct? Or is there a way to get a bus directly to POR from AKL?

There are no buses that go resort to resort.

Unfortunately, you're not going to avoid an AK > AKL > AK > POR trip.

Guess I'll leave it up to DH to decide if he wants to drive or spend time riding buses
