Our first stay at POR... If we want to get to 1900 Park Fare for breakfast is it quicker to take the bus to MK then monorail to GF or bus to EPCOT then monorail (with connection at TTC) to GF? :surfweb:

Bus to MK. The Epcot connection would involve 2 monorails, and the Epcot monorail does not start running as early in the a.m. as the MK Resort Monorail. It's unlikely that the time you save by missing 2 stops on the resort line would make up for the time you'd spend walking between platforms and waiting for the 2nd train.

Ask the bus driver when you get on if it's the best way to get to the GF. There's a possibility the driver may drop you off at the resort (but please don't get angry if s/he doesn't.)

I would bus to the MK and then take a boat to GF.
The GF is the 1st stop the boat/launch will make when leaving frmo the MK.
The monorail will make 3 stops at CR, TTC, Poly before arriving at the GF.

That's good if it's a late breakfast. But the boats start about 1/2 hour before MK opening, while the monorails always start at 7 a.m.

That's a great idea... thanks!

I would recommend taking the bus to the Magic Kingdom and from there taking the Resort Monorail to the Grand Floridian.

If the resort launch is running, gold flag on bow, then take the launch from MK to GF. About 5 minutes by launch vs at least 15 minutes by monorail.

While that maybe true if the OP was to just miss the boat if it was operating when they get there, it's still faster to take the Resort Monorail because they always arrive every 5 minutes compared to waiting for the next boat.

Not going to argue with you CR. But GF is the 3rd stop so at least 15 minutes. The boat is only 5 minutes and there are two operating at all times. We have never failed to beat the monorail to the Poly which is the 2nd boat stop much less GF and that's over 20 years.

Have to agree with you. You can see where the boats are as you walk from the bus stop area. If you see a small boat leaving the dock then it may be a better idea to head to the monorail. I also have to disagree that monorails come every 5 mins. I have stood at the MK platform waiting for a resort monorail to come...for 10+ mins. If there are three cars on the line, and it takes about 25 mins to make a loop, then a car should come along every 10 mins, maybe a bit less.
The boat goes right to the GF after leaving MK..so if you see a boat coming in from the Polynesian/GF, head over to the dock and get on the boat. Takes about 8 mins to get to GF on the boat.
The monorail will take you about 20 mins once you are onboard.
