Bus from Resort or TTC?

We will be staying at the Polynesian Resort from the 22nd to the 29th and I am wondering if it would be better to take a bus from the TTC, instead of the resort, for the days we go to Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom. Any thoughts?

I was thinking that maybe the TTC buses run more often or efficient, etc...

Thanks!

Great question.
Unlike the regular resort buses, the AK & DHS buses from TTC run on a schedule. If you don't mind the walk from the Poly to TTC, it's a very good option.
Will you save a lot of time? It all depends on how you look at it. If you include the time to walk over, it might be a wash. If you want to know that the wait time will not exceed the average 20 minute approx wait time for the resort buses, it's for you.
Also, those buses are direct to those parks.
Try it and see how it works for you.

Thanks for the info! Do you happen to know what the schedule is from the TTC? or where it can be found?
Thanks again!

or where it can be found?

Can't help you on that one. As far as I know, the schedule is for internal use (drivers) and is not made available to guests. If you call WDW Transportation, they will give you the standard, "buses run approx. every 20 minutes", sorry.

I think in the mornings the buses would run more from the Polynesian because they will share with the other Monorail Resorts or the Wilderness Lodge. Although when leaving from those two parks you could wait for either the Polynesian bus or the TTC bus, because their bus stop locations are always next to each other and get one which bus arrives first.

Um, when I stayed at WL last summer, we never shared a bus with the Polynesian. And when I stayed at the Polynesian, we never went to WL. Polynesian and GF tend to be on the same route...for DHS, the bus stops at both, for AK, it goes right there after stopping at the Polynesian.

I have used the bus to AK from the TTC. But, I was traveling from MK. When I stayed at the Polynesian, I only used the TTC for Epcot...never DHS or AK. It's about an 8-10 min walk, further from the outerlying longhouses, over to the TTC. And the buses are on the far side of the TTC. It's a hike. I always used the buses to DHS and AK....even if I waited 20 mins for one to come, it is still faster unless you walked over to the TTC and the bus was there, or just arriving. And that's not a chance I'm taking. I know that when I used the TTC to get to AK, I sat and waited for about 15+ mins before a bus came.

As far as the bus stops being close to each other...they are at DHS. But at AK, they are far apart.

That's true only for DHS. The stops at DAK are on different platforms (#2 & #14).

Sometimes they share with the Polynesian and sometimes they don't, it depends on the day. Although when they do it's always during the morning only.

Hmmm, you must have been on some very different routes. According to the bus drivers I have spoken to, these two resorts are not on the same route.

When we were there in January 2010, we stayed at WL and made stops at the Poly and then GF on our way to the parks. The worst was when we stopped at Fort Wilderness, then went to the GF and Poly (I forget which park that was). The only park we went directly to was MK. Perhaps the routes are seasonal and based on how full the resorts are.

To the OP, the walk to the TTC is not long if you are staying on the side of the Poly closest to the TTC. We have walked from the TTC to the Poly bus stop (we forgot that we couldn't get a DD bus from the TTC) - it took about 5 minutes, and we were meandering because we weren't quite sure where to go. I think there's no good way of predicting which would be faster. Enjoy your trip!

Any bus stop sequence is possible if a special situation arises. They may deviate from the standard route or send dedicated buses to parks or resorts until the situation is resolved.
With the buses, never say never and never say always.
