Bus from MGM to Allstar resort took 1hr 45 min

There was a major problem with buses tonite at MGM --Line was the longest I have seen--took 1hr 45min to get back too the resort--not liking that

on 12-2 the line for pop mgm was insane as well decided to take the bus to carribean beach and walk since my room was in the 50's it was not to bad of a walk

I agree, except it usually costs more than $10.00. Normally closer to $15-20 with a tip. Still worth it though.

Also, be sure to get a cab from the taxi stand. We made the mistake of getting a cab at Epcot on a Extra Magic Hours night. We went to the taxi line and a guy walked us to his vehicle. It was parked far away from the line in the bus lot area. We ended up getting hustled. Be careful. Only ride in a metered cab.

We took a cab for a couple of reasons last time. We were staying at the Beach Club and took a cab to get to our 8 am ADRs at Animal kingdom, our dining reservation at California Grill and also when we went shopping at DTD and then went to MGM. and on the way back from the WL after some how getting there by bus after the HDDR The most a cab ride was about $15 dollars with the tip.

Buses do run early if you have a breakfast ADR but we didnt want to chance being late for ours and the cab was the quickest way.

Getting to the WL esp by the boat from MK to me is torture I thought the boat ride too get to the HDDR was sooooo slow.

If you want to spend the money I think sometimes a cab is a great quick option to get where you want to go. In my experiences though for the most part the buses and monorails are also an efficient means of getting around the world and about 95% percent of the time we used them.

I had that happen when I was there in September. Waited an hour 15 minutes for a bus at MK and it was the middle of the day. When I complained, they said they knew there was a problem with the buses and they were doing their best to fix it. I didn't believe a word of it.

I've found transportation in general, whether Disney owned or otherwise, to be inefficient at the Studios when the Osborne lights are up, especially if there are no CM's in the toll booth or parking lot to keep things under control. If you have a park hopper ticket, it's almost worth it to go over to Epcot and take transportation from there. I was really hoping the new routing system would help with these kind of issues.

the buses were still trying to get MK and Ak guests back to their resorts, when the Studio closed.

that will happen - both in Dec and spring break time.

When closings are close together or at the same time like that, the roads really back up badly in certain places,too! I sat in a traffic jam from beyond a few years ago waiting to get through the security gate into the All Stars. There's only one gate, and three giant resorts... it was a mess.

We didn't get in the line--we hopped on the bus to Coronado Springs-then hopped on the Downtown Disney bus which turned into the Allstar bus--that line was just totally insane--much better tonite leaving Magic Kingdom--Going to sleep now--pretty tired

Do you think it will be that bad in late January?? I haven't been to WDW since I was 14 (12 years ago) so I don't really know anything about the buses.

If you are leaving Epcot through Future World, there is a circular loop of taxis lined up near the entrance (close to the buses) Make sure you get in a yellow taxi with a meter. I think our problem stemmed from the fact we were leaving the park late, and there was no one monitoring which cabs belonged there. The hustlers got in because of this.

If you are leaving Epcot after Illuminations, I would suggest walking or taking the boat to the Beach Club and getting the valet/bell services to hail you a cab. You will get a metered cab at a hotel.

I just returned from there too. I think part of the problem is that there aren't enough bus drivers right now. I saw many, many "Training" busses go by, and others (which allowed passengers) had 3 "drivers" on them - obviously one new driver and 2 instructors. I read somewhere that Disney doesn't pay the drivers enough, and so they quit at pretty high rates.

On the note of 'rip off cabs' my SIL and FIL got a cab to Epcot from a non-Disney hotel and they were charged the parking entrance fee to get into Epcot! (this was not a 'yellow cab' I think one of the white town cars) The total fare was doubled because of this!

As people have said go for a 'yellow cab' and if in doubt go to a resort and get them to call you one (we found there was usually one waiting)

In September we had a very similar issue happen to us. We were at MGM for extra magic hours which turned out to be a complete washout. The end result was 3 parks (MK closed at 8, Epcot at 9, and MGM at 9) trying to get people back to the resorts. I was so thankful to be staying at ASmu... ASmo and ASpo shared while we had our own line.

One thing we also took note of was the amount of ECV users in our line. If there were two that needed to be loaded, the process took about 15mins. This delayed our line from moving, people from boarding, and the time for another bus to pull in. This was a huge time delay trying to get back from MK's emh.

With exception to those two fluke incidents, we had ideal bus service throughout the entire week with very little waiting. Infact, we were pleasantly surprised with all the bad rep the All Star's recieve.

First off I am a real fan of the WDW transportation system, I think it is awesome!

I am a terrible driver, so I do not drive at WDW, when DH is with me, he will drive. Therefore, I almost always take the bus, monorail, boat, etc.

I have found that the transportation system overall is efficent and well run. That being said, I have experienced transportation meltdowns.

The biggest meltdown I experienced was at MGM on an extra magic night, it was raining and they cancelled Fantasmic. People were leaving in droves. The line for the All Star buses was back to the security check point! For those who are not familar with the bus stops, All Stars is all the way at the end. My mom and I took one look at the line and one look at each other, and said simutaneously "TAXI".

I have used a cab maybe 4 or 5 times, ( to get to an early ADR or to go from resort to resort, or to go from DTD to a park) and it has always been worth it.

Problem is now, DD never wants to wait for the bus. If there is a line, she ALWAYS asks, "Mom can't we take a cab?". I've created a monster!!!!!!!!!!!

I too am a fan of the Disney transportation system. For some things it can't be beat: MK or late night at PI/DTD. However, when it isn't working, it seems to take forever to fix. (This is one of the reasons that we always rent a car. Also, I'm from California. How can you not have a car? How do you get to KSC, Wal-mart, Cracker Barrel... )

I second the advice to keep moving. The problem is that you can't go resort to resort. This means you probably have to ride three buses instead of one. (park to another resort to DTD to your resort) Still seeing the sights is better than standing in a ridiculous line at MGM.

I also second the advice to choose your cab carefully. In general, I hate cabs. It's from too many bad experiences in Las Vegas. So, I'd rather go round the world on busses than take a cab.

It's too bad. Disney used to have a really nice system with the cabs. I believe it was in the late 80's. Without some extra effort, the only "cabs" that you could get at Disney resorts were town cars. The company charged a flat fee for anywhere on WDW property and another flat fee for the airport. I don't remember the fees, but at the time, they seemed reasonable.
