Bus driver fell asleep again and again ...

On Monday this week we were traveling from the Animal Kingdom back to the Poly. About half way the bus driver started to fall asleep. He would nod off, we would clap our hands loudly and he would snap back awake.

This happened about 4 or 5 times. When he pulled into the Contemporary everyone got off. No one wanted to stay on the bus with him. We walked into the Contemporary and got on the monorail along with about half the people who were on the bus.

At first we thought surely he was joking but he was really falling alseep.

I hope someone got the bus number, and reported it. That type of behavior is unacceptable, especially with the safety of others at stake. I do apologise for that incident, and hope that it was an isolated incident.

I did not think to report it to anyone. We were just happy to be off the bus. I can't even remember exactly what time it was. It must have been between 1 and 3 because that is when we came back to the hotel everyday to swim and nap.

hmm... Monday March 10 around 1 to 3 PM AK to Poly

Still needs another person's input to narrow down.

By the way if driver drowiness was indeed the case, I think passengers should have intervened, like calling out "Stop the bus", making up some imaginary passenger emergency in the back, if needed.

It takes only a half second of inattentiveness on the freeway to get into a major collision.

It is so horrible to be dangerously sleepy... When my daughter was a new baby she was up repeatedly every night to nurse. I was SO exhausted. One day I was driving close to home and started to nod off. Luckily it scared me half to death and I started crying and woke up enough to get safely home.

This poor man may care for a sick relative or work 3 jobs. Who knows? That doesn't give him the right to kill a busload of tourists, but I hope Disney would be accepting of a driver saying "I am feeling poorly today and can not safely drive." I think it would have been fine for one of the passengers to act concerned and say "Hey, let's pull over, you must be coming down with the flu" or something else non-threatening!

Thank goodness you are all OK!

Indeed, if a driver does not feel they can safely operate a bus (or if mgmt feels that way for a driver) that driver will not drive.

We boarded the CSR bus at MK after the park closed a few weeks back. There were only 10 or so on the bus. As we started to pull away, the driver changed the electronic sign in front. We then stopped right next to the bus for AKL and new people began to board. The new passengers said they were all onboard the other bus, but the driver was not feeling well. They were told to disembark and get on our bus.

From this experience, I would say Disney does react to how the Bus drivers are feeling.
