I will be leaving for WDW in 2 days. We are staying at POR. With three kids, we usually just drive from the resort to the park, but since my youngest is getting older, we were going to take the bus from the resort to the MK this year. If rope drop is 9, what time should we plan on leaving? How crowded are the busses to MK in the morning at those times?

Thanks

Taking the bus in the morning is usually a breeze. Its the bus home, especially if its after park closing, that can be a pain.

If I want to be a RD for 9am, I like to be walking out the door of our room by 8am...

I'd figure on hitting the bus an hour before, but POR can get really busy when it comes to buses. One person reported 4 MK buses going by before one had enough room to stop and pick them up. POFQ buses are easier to deal with if it isn't too far for you to get to that bus stop.

Hi, we just returned for POFQ, and the buses are good but very frustrating also. There was no rhyme or reason to if they went to POR or just did pofq. But here is my experience. Get the very first bus each morning, 8 am. That bus is not so full, and more times than not it only did one resort at 8 am. If you miss that bus, at least at pofq you are doomed, the next two or three buses will be totally packed full with standing room only. And you will not get to the park and be first you will be way in the back of the crowds. We did first bus every morning and was first in line at the bridge. Go to the bridge side you want for that day because it is hard to cross over in the crowds, so if you want splash mountain go to the left, if you want space go to the right. Peter Pan either, but the castle is closed so it is a long walk either way, one thru adventure land, the other the right side of the castle and around thru fantasyland.

On the way home again check where the bus is, they kept changing ours, one day at 14, then 18 then we had to take the POR bus, no rhyme or reason for these changes. Try to go out when the crowds are in park, like right before fireworks, or during the parade, if they are just getting over than wait an hour and then leave otherwise not only will you not get a seat, you will be stepped on, foot rolled over by carriages and little kids or parent banging you. It was not to bad if you could manage not to go at park closing, parades or wishes.
