I am planning on doing Disney Studios(Hollywood Studios) one day and then going over to the Yacht Club for dinner. The park is open until 7pm that day and now I am wondering if I can still go back to HS to get a bus back to Animal Kingdom Lodge later that evening. Like how long will the buses run after the park closes. Never had to figure this one out before.

Depends how late you finish dinner... Yacht isn't that far from DHS but if it is only open till 7pm eat quick. Buses may run a little later than park closing but you are better off taking a bus to DD which is open till 2am and then taking a bus to AKL from there.

I believe buses run for 1 hour after a park closes. However, you might be better off taking a bus to MK/Epcot and just getting a bus back to your resort that way.

You can't get a bus to Epcot from YC, but you can walk thru the park to the bus stops if Epcot is still open, and if you have a park-hopper or AP.

Otherwise, your options are to change buses at MK or DTD. Expect to take 1 hour to 90 minutes to get home.

If you just want to get back, I'd choose MK. Go to DTD if you might like to browse around before getting the bus home.

The buses run aprox. an hour after park closing. But I believe that the resort busses run until all 4 parks are closed, however I'm not sure. But if your at the boardwalk they should be able to take you back to animal kingdom lodge.

There's also the boat option from the beach club. They could take you to HS, or Epcot. The buses take you to magic kingdom, and animal kingdom. I don't know what resorts.

There are no direct resort-to-resort buses unless they happen to share a bus route. So you can't really plan on taking a bus from one resort to another resort.

In terms of park buses, buses run pretty frequently until one hour after closing. After that, there are still buses (for late diners in the park), but they tend to combine routes. The boat that goes from Yacht Club to DHS stops running one hour after DHS closes (the boat will still run if Epcot is still open or within one hour of when it closes, but they'll cut out the portion of the route that goes to DHS).

My guess is that if you have dinner at the Yacht Club after DHS closes, you won't get done until close to 1.5 to 2 hours later (so somewhere around 9:00 pm). At that point, I would choose to walk back to DHS. I would either take the first bus that arrives that is going to a theme park or DTD. From there I would transfer to the AKL bus. Alternatively (and this is what I would really do in this situation), I would take a taxi from Yacht Club to AKL. It'll be much faster and probably around $25 (plus tip).

I would not recommend walking back to DHS 2 hours after closing. By the time they get to DHS, the buses may have closed down for the night. If that were the case, the only alternatives would be to walk back to BW or phone a cab.

They who! will take you back to AKL. There is no bus to AKL . I believe If your at the piano bar( jellyrolls) till closing they have buses to get you back to your resort but they will be combined with others resorts and it will be after midnight. I could be wrong ,I never used them. We stay at BWV.

You can bus to DTD and then bus to AKL:goodvibes

Thanks everyone. I guess I will just forget about reservations at Yacht Club. Too involved to get back to the resort and by the time we finish dinner too tired to spend that much time getting back. At least I now know what I can and can not do after a park closes to get home. Love these boards!!!!

Personally I'd walk over to Epcot and get the bus back to AKL, it's a pleasant walk and I enjoy walking after a meal.
I would keep your dinner reservation, if you don't want to take the time using Disney transportation, take a cab. Last year I went from the AKL over to the BC and the cost was about $20 plus tip, and it was not a long drive at all.

if they don't have a park hopper or AP they can't do that because they all ready entered HS

Which I understand but since the OP did not mention if they had park hoppers or not, so I just indicated going through Epcot. If they do not have park hoppers and/or don't want to do all that walking, and they do not want to waste all the time on the buses then a cab would be their best option.

Taxi. Budget about $20 for it give or take. Enjoy your meal and not stress about getting back. That's what I do.

I would go ahead and make the dinner reservation at the YC or at any of the Epcot resorts if you really want to eat at one of the restaurants. Getting back sounds complicated, but it really isn't.

Easiest: take a taxi from the YC to AKL. Figure about $25 and 15-20 minutes. Taxis are almost always waiting at the front entrance of the YC or you can ask valet to call if one is not in sight.

Disney buses:
-If you have a park hopper and Epcot is still open you can enter Epcot through the International Gateway and walk through the park to the front entrance to take the bus to AKL.

-If DHS is having evening EMH (7-9 PM) buses will run for at least an hour longer. If you're done with dinner in time you can walk or take the Friendship boat back to DHS and take the bus back to AKL.

-You can take the bus from the YC to the MK if it is still open and get the bus back to AKL.

-You can take the bus from the YC to DTD and transfer to the AKL bus. This would be my last choice because it is the most time consuming, but on the other hand buses run from DTD to the resorts until about 2 AM.

Here now. Day 2 and busses are horrible. Waited 40 mins for bus from AKL to MK this am and waited 35 mins for a bus this afternoon. Don't know if this is an AKL thing or not.

Busses run from a park until the park is clear of day guests. That is normally several hours after "closing".

You cannot take a bus to a closed park but you can walk to DHS or EPCOT and catch a bus (if EPCOT as you need to enter the park) is still open.

Just budget for a cab. It's a nice way to end the evening. Wouldn't be too expensive.
