Burning candles in your room?

I've done some poking around, and I can't seem to find this information anywhere. Does anyone know what the official policy is for burning candles in your Disney resort room? I'm mainly talking about those little Glade candles that melt into oil, and then burn out when the oil is gone; but I assume that the same policy would cover candles of all types. My main reason for burning a candle would be if we would get a previously smoking-allowed room and there were no previously non-smoking rooms available for us to move to. At least a candle would help combat the smoke odor, even though you'd really be fighting a losing battle anyway.

well I bring a candle. generally kept in the bathroom - just in case.

but Disney has more than enough sprinklers system to handle a candle - my opinion.

DVC resorts allow candles - don't know if a WDW resort room would.

While I know it's a totally reasonable request, the teacher in me shudders at the thought of a late night hotel fire. (I saw Towering Inferno a billion years ago, but can still see the images.)

How about the Glade Plug-Ins instead?

I bring a candle everywhere. I had one at BWI last year and was never told it was a problem.

I love candles and burn them in my house all the time, but, I wouldn't think of doing that in a hotel room. Would not want to be responsible for a fire, or want to be sleeping next door or above a room that is burning candles that get tipped over, forgotten, (which I have done) etc. Paranoia I guess. :scared:

We always bring or buy candles to light around the jacuzzi. On our wedding night mousekeeping even had them all set up around the bathroom.

I would never in a million years burn a candle in a hotel room. I have them going all the time at home, but as a PP said - I just couldn't stand to be responsible if anything happened.

Although I don't know if there is an offical policy on candles I don't think you should be buring candles in a hotel room. Just as people didn't like to be put next to smoking rooms because the smoke travels through the vents, your candle scent will probably do the same. Although you might like the scent, your neighbors might not.

I wouldn't burn candles in a hotel room either. Too many risks for all the other guests.

How about a little Febreeze instead? It works wonders on my husband's stinky running shoes.

I always bring the plug ins....with the fan that blows
the "fresh smell" out.

I have never brought a candle but I do always bring Febreeze and an air freshener to put on the dresser or counter.

The idea of someone burning a candle in a hotel room horrifies me. My house caught fire last summer at 4 in the morning. Thank God we all got out but it scares me to death to think of the carnage that could result from that.

:scared: Please don't... I beg you....Febreeze can get rid of ANY odor, we have 8 dogs here and I defy anyone to walk into this house and tell me I have even one....a fire in a hotel or a house has to be the most horrifying nightmare ever...I could never live with the guilt and as a smoker I'm always scared if another smoker caused a fire in a hotel...Ruthie who NEVER smokes in rooms even when it was allowed

Very glad to hear the poster about the house fire & her family are alright !

Bath and Body Works Wallflowers is what I would take :thumbsup2 I stocked up when they were on sale...
I agree with most everyone else...I would not burn a candle in my hotel room but that is my 2 cents

We live in an apartment and we are expressly forbidden from burning candles by our lease. And yes, we have automatic fire sprinklers. I would imagine hotels prefer that you NOT burn candles in the room.

be cautious or they will start making scented cigarrettes !!
Not much different..IMHO:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

What kills me is that anyone would ever smoke in their room. :sad2: yuck!! That not only stinks up the room for everyone but it is a fire risk as well. It is a shame that you even have to be bothered with worrying about bring a candle.

I would worry about your safety just in case it fell on the floor :scared1:

Fingers crossed that you do not end up in a room where someone was rude enough to smoke in.

Have a wonderful vacation :thumbsup2

I'd never, ever, burn a candle in a hotel room. In addition to the fire risk, those room-freshener candles like Glade have a super-strong smell, and it would be overwhelming in a hotel room.

If you happen to be in a room with a connecting door, your neighbor is going to be treated to the smell of your candle, whether they like it or not. Heavily perfumed scents can cause problems for allergic or asthmatic folks (like me). Glade candle fumes in my room would have me running for my inhaler.

Another thing to consider. The WDW rooms have sensors to detect combustion products, so they can fine people who smoke in the rooms. Would a burning candle set that off?
