my husband is trying to remember the name a restaurant he went to in the burlington mall as a kid, and its driving him crazy that he can't. He said it was a cafeteria style restaurant, possibly near the magic pan.

anyone know?

Not the Burlington Mall, but the Natick Mall had The York Steakhouse, which was a cafeteria-style restaurant. I worked in the industrial park across the street and we used to go there almost every Tuesday for lunch after we cashed our paychecks. (that was long before the days of direct deposit! :) )

Hmmmm....yes, I sort of remember a cafeteria style restaurant like that in the Dedham Mall. I grew up in Needham. BUT cannot think of the name of it....hmmm....wondering if indeed it was YORK??? :confused3

Just found this on Wikipedia:

York Steak House was a national chain of restaurants in the United States that specialized in steaks and potatoes. It was among several chains then owned by cereal manufacturer General Mills. Though popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the majority of its locations shut down in 1989.

The restaurants, located primarily in shopping malls, generally had a floorplan of a cafeteria (cold items on one side, hot items on the other with the cashier at the end). This combined with a decor similar composed of dim lighting, heavy wooden furniture, and iron chandeliers.

Other General Mills restaurant chains besides York included Betty Crocker's Tree House, The Good Earth, and Guadala Harry's. However, some chains that General Mills once owned, such as Red Lobster and Olive Garden, continue to this day under the ownership of Darden Restaurants, which General Mills spun off in 1995.

I remember that place! Burlington Mall did have a York Steakhouse. It was sort of in the area near where the Cheesecake Factory is now, maybe. Danvers also had a YS as did Revere. Ponderosa kind of reminds me of York Steakhouse. I'm not sure if this is the one that you are thinking of. At York you would place your order with the cashier at the door.

thanks!!! yep, that was it. :)

We had a York Stead House and LOVED it! We are always saying how we wish it was still around!!:goodvibes
