OMG, so much to read up on before sending the papers back, I actually brought them into the office to read during my breaks.

On taking a quick look, I have a couple of questions.

1) Do you have to pay a $95 fee everytime you book?

2) Do you have to bank your points 4 months before your Use Year? They are giving us 2009 points if we sign up with a pro-rated MF for this year. Our Use Year is Feb. By the time we close it will be well into Oct or early November. So are we to bank our points right a way?? What happens if you need to use your points in the Feb/March time frame?

I'm sure I'll think up more questions.

TIA for your help.

You only have the $95 fee if you book outside DVC properties..like if you decide to use your points at the Grand Floridian you would be charged that fee.

Yes, you must bank prior to the 4 month mark. If you are using them before the end of your year, no need to bank.

No, the $95 is for getaways that are not part of the Disney Vacation Club Resorts, like the Disney Collection (the other Disneyland Parks around the World and the Disney Cruise Line) or booking through RCI for an exchange at another timeshare.

Yes, you need to book by September 30th for a February use year. However, we have seen over and over again that when you buy through Disney they will permit you to bank these 2009 points as soon as you appear within the DVC system (after closing).

You can use your banked points and your 2010 points for any reservations starting February 2010.

All of this information is in the papers sent to you. One great source that is easier to read is the 2010 Planner your guide would have sent you. It's a larger blue book that has the floor plans and point charts in it.

However, another source besides the planner and us on the boards is Quality Assurance with Disney. After reading everything we wrote down our questions and then called the number we were told to call before returning the documents. The QA person was wonderful. Instant answers! And having someone to talk to about our excitement at joining the DVC was great. This phone number is on the check list you have in your papers.

Of course you can always post more questions here on the DISboards.

Although you have signed the paperwork yet, I just want to be one of the first to say. pixiedust:Welcome Home!pixiedust:

As noted, the $95 fee is not applied to DVC reservations - only to those for the non-DVC options like cruises, World Passport exchanges and reservations at other Disney non-DVC resorts.

If you purchase during the last 4 months of your Use Year, DVC has allowed new members to bank current points beyond the usual banking deadline. With a February Use Year, you would usually need to bank current points by September 30, but you should be able to bank them after that date with a new purchase. Just let your guide know that is your desire and they can assist.

With a February Use Year you would need to bank your 2009 points to use them beyond January 31, 2010 - so if you plan to travel in Feb/Mar 2010 you could use banked 09 points, current 2010 points and/or borrowed 2011 points.

Enjoy! :)

What happens if you need to use your points in the Feb/March time frame?

another example farther out:

if you want to book feb 2011, you can call as early as mar 2010 to make those reservations at your home resort.

you can book feb 2011 with current 2011 UY points (which are probably already in your account), 2010 UY pts if you bank them and/or 2012 UY points if you borrow them.

this is a good thread to read for understanding "use year" more thoroughly.

We just bought 85 point add-on to WLV, they gave us 85 '08 points which they let us bank, even though it's past the banking deadline. Hope this helps!

was this a resale, if not is Disney selling VWL for $85 a pt?

when disney sells an add-on directly, they may waive the normal banking window rules. when you buy a contract from someone else (resale), they have no incentive to help you out - you are on your own.

DVC is selling VWL for $101 per pt...so there are trade-offs to consider.

Sorry, too many numbers there! No, it was 85 points at $101 per point. :goodvibes Yes, we bought through Disney...trying to get a personal loan in this economy is really difficult.
