Has anyone ha a bunk bed room at either WL or AKL with 5: kids ages would be 8,6,2. Really trying to find our best option for a thanksgiving 2014 trip and want MK area resort. We've discussed renting points too. Worried i wont love the theme of BLT or Contemporary. We travel a lot and it looks like a typical Marriott/Hilton

Yes, we booked a regular room at AKL one year and they gave us a free upgrade to Savannah view and bunkbeds! Our kids were 8.5, 5.5, and 2.5 that trip. The older two kids slept in the bunk bed and the youngest one slept with us. We had a great PIN code and figured it would be our last chance to be in a regular room at AKL since the rooms are for four and it was our last trip with a child under 3 who didn't count towards the total.

One concern I had was the transportation, since AKL is away from most of the parks and AK is actually our least favorite park of the four. Transportation was great and easy and it wasn't an issue.

If you purchase a DVC reservation from a member (rent points), the only villa that has bunk beds is the Treehouse Villas and they sleep nine.

Oh I should clarify, only would do a bunk bed room at WL if we decided against renting points or not getting the villa if we go that route. Just trying to decide if room space is adequate. Really wish they would have added those bunk bed trundles like Grand Californian.

We stayed in a bunkbed room at WL when our kids were 9 and 7. We loved it, but we were not in the room much anyway, so space wasn't a huge factor. We have since joined the DVC and stayed in a 1bdrm at OKW and in a THV, and because that was much more of a relaxing, non-parks trip, we appreciated the extra space. Also, it was hard for me to sleep at WL because the kids were literally right there next to me and I could hear every little movement (and DD was getting over a cold with a cough). I sleep much better in a villa.

We are DVC but when we get a cash room we tend to go to AKL and always request a bunk bed. The added floor space does make a difference :goodvibes And of course having the boys in their own space and out of touching distance makes the whole trip easier :rotfl2:

Have you thought about the Cabins at Ft Wilderness. The cabin bedrooms have a bunkbed and a double bed. In the living room is a Murphy bed that is a double. From Ft Wilderness you can take a boat to the MK.

We LOVE the cabins!!! Initially I got them back in 03 for my fam (5, 3, and Mr. FFerret and me) because our son has autism and I just wanted a little elbow room and the hint of being away from it all. In Jan we're going back and one kid's in high school and the next will be next year. Plus, we have a baby (surprise!).

The cabins have a full kitchen, separate bedroom, porch w/ table, lots of good stuff... They've been downgraded from deluxe to moderate since then, but we consider it our home away from home. And the fort has a ton of cool things you can't find elsewhere.

I've had bunk bed rooms at both AKL & WL. Kids loved them. It was great with having a boy and girl.
