Top Bunk - Has some sort of ledge been rigged to give that person a replacement of the nite stand? If not, no lamp for light, no alarm clock, meds, water, etc. No extra drawer(s)! Plus, don't know if a bunk bed would be steady on risers? Hopefully it has a ladder! Sure hope our DGD gets a floor bed!

Anyone know if the bunk beds take the same size twin bed fitted bottom sheet?

Just got bunk beds in my apartment. There are 2 nightstands in some bedrooms, 0 nightstands in others depending on the size of the bedroom. My 2-bedroom apartment, for example, has one bedroom with 2 nightstands and one bedroom with no nightstands because of the size and layout of the room. There's a small shelf on the top bunk that would probably hold an alarm clock and maybe a small medicine bottle, but it's generally assumed that the nightstands will be shared among all 3 roommates assuming there are nightstands at all. The bunk beds are fairly steady, no real worries there, there is a steady ladder as well. All of the beds take twin sheets (not twin XL).

Also, in the bedrooms that got the renovations, there are no floor beds. There's a single bed, but it's placed on top of what is essentially a mini-dresser, so it's actually up pretty high (mine comes almost to my hip, and I'm 5'10"). Not bad by any means, but not on the floor, either.

Thank you for your reply. Very informative.

Does the elevated single bed have a ladder, or does a short person need to jump?

Also, in the YouTube videos, 2 people in the bedroom shared the closet - each took one side. So now do 3 people share that same closet?

Was an extra locker added?

How does it work with bath products - toilet paper, soap, cleaning supplies. How are the costs shared? Same with kitchen products?

Good luck with your DCP. :)

My daughter sent me this picture of a room with the new bunk beds and the single bed.

This is pretty much exactly what my room looks like. There is no ladder with the elevated bed; I live with a girl who is a few inches shorter than me and she definitely does have to climb a little to get in her bed. Right now there's still only 2 in our room, and despite having the big closet, I can't imagine adding a third to sharing our closet. Right now my roommate and I do share the closet with one on each side; I brought a lot of clothes since I drove and had the space and she didn't, so there's a little free space in our closet, but not much. I wouldn't plan on bringing much clothes, which a lot of people don't advise anyway (personally, I've worn almost everything I brought, so YMMV). I've been told that an extra locker and fridge will be added, but no dates yet, presumably before I leave/the fall people arrive.

As for kitchen/bathroom/cleaning products, it varies by apartment group. My roommates and I get along really well for the most part, so it's been easy. We pretty much take turns buying things like paper towels and hand soap and such unless someone has a particular preference for a certain kind. Cleaning products we can get from the clubhouse, and we do. Bathroom costs are shared only between two people (will be 3 if we get a new roommate) since there are two bathrooms. Kitchen products we take turns buying.

I'm guessing my picture might have posted but on my iPad it didn't show up so I assumed I did something wrong and deleted the URL. Not sure if it is on here now or exactly what happened.

carol-lamb, thank you for taking all that time to get the photo to post.

DH says if he could have his screw gun & a hand saw "down there", he'd fix an upside down/flat on the top U shape shelf for that top bunk - helping whoever ends up there! :cool1:

Thanks everyone.
