So, I called to order our surprise "welcome to Disneyland" cake for our kids, and the gal said we cannot do it! I understand if we were staying at one of the 3 DL hotels that we could order through room service, but I thought we would be able to order it and pick it up at one of the hotels. (we are staying at Residence Inn, maingate)

She told me they used to allow that, but not anymore. She said the only way it would work is if we ate at Goofy's Kitchen, and they would bring it to us for in the restaurant.
I am so bummed! I was hoping we could get it in our hotel room for our first night, just an extra piece of magic. My parents would have been able to pick it up too. Oh well.

Anyone know of other places I can call? The CM I spoke with offered that I check out Food-For-Less, as they have pre-made cakes. That is not exactly what I had in mind. :P

Hi,

That really is a bummer . I don’t know if this will help but I did this before and it was really cool the only thing it wasn’t a Disney themed cake go to this website check it out maybe they do have something now http://www.1-800-bakery.com they will deliver the cake to the hotel in a UPS box comes with everything plates , plastic forks ect. I had it delivered to the hotel and they called my room to let me know there was a package waiting for my family at the front desk . Everyone was kind of like a package for us hummmmmmm . My family went to pick it up and were nicely surprised that it was a cake . I didn’t have to do any driving so it worked out great.

I dont have any other information but sorry it didn't work out for you

Send Grandma to Marceline's in DTD to get either Mickey cookies or Mickey rice krispie treats. Have her get a special plate from WOD while she is there. While you are out of the room, have her put the cookies or treats on the special plate on a table in the room. You could also have her get a special small character gift from WOD to have with the treats on the table.

I had a feeling it would turn out that way, sorry.

But ya know, Mickey or not, I'm sure you can find a bakery that can do something for you that's better tasting, and possibly for less.

I quick google of "anaheim cake" gives some results. :)

And Von's (Safeway in other parts of the country) has a bakery...though I don't know if I would get a decorated cake from them, their Colossal Cake is a GIGANTIC masterpiece of chocolate (looks like what people report getting from Golden Horseshoe).

You could buy little Disney things and decorate it if you wanted to.

But the Marcelines suggestion is probably a better one.

editing...when I googled, I clicked on a link b/c they had the same name as our wedding baker. Dream Cakes, but of OC rather than Portland, LOL. And I clicked on their Birthdays link, and saw some Disney related things...they might not do something small, but it can't hurt to check! http://www.dreamcakesoc.com/birthdays.php

By the way, when are you going?

And did you only call Vacation Planning? Or another department?

That "only Goofy's Kitchen" comment just doesn't feel right to me, I think they mis-spoke...

I get cakes from my safeway here all the time the cake is GREAT they are gonna make my wedding cake!!!!
