Ok, I am kicking myself today. Over the summer I kept reminding myself to bank my points and there I go and completely forget. Had a crazy fall with my brothers wedding, grandmother coming to visit with me, sister-in-law visiting, vacations and a major software release at work.
So, now I am stuck. I just read the rental DVC requirements and I have been a member of this board for more than 6 months, but I don't have the 50 posts :(. I understand the restrictions, but still bummed about it.
I like to read the discussions, but being in software I don't have a lot of extra time to provide feedback to people.
So, now I'm trying to think what I should do. Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone ever ask people at work if they would like to rent them? Or family members? And with any success?
Also, they are only good till January, so at this point, they would have to go in January. Kind of limiting....should I just give up and deal with the loss?
I'd love any suggestions anyone can provide.
I even tried to change our December vacation from a studio to a 1 bedroom, but no more 1 bedrooms available...I am SOOOOO out of ideas....I just can't believe I did this! Lesson learned!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, funny, I just saw that I have 66 posts under my name...YEAH! I hope that they don't mean 50 in the past 12 months, because those are definitely older posts for sure.
Now, I couldn't seem to find that # in my account and I NEVER thought I actually had 66 posts. I guess I went through a little spell of replying or posting. Must have been awhile ago...hmmm, oh well.
Anyways if you still have other suggestions I would love to hear them.
Thx!

I once had developer points that were going to expire within 2 months. With those, people were limited to only staying at SSR. I posted them on the DVC rent/trade site & managed to rent all of them to 3 different families (I used paypal) so as soon as I knew their dates/room type were available I called DVC & made all the arrangements for the families & then sent them the confirmation letter DVC sent me! Worse case senerio if I didn't receive payment within 24 hours I would have called back & cancelled the ressies.

Give it a shot, can't hurt...Good luck

no problem, if it works out, let me know how it goes as I might look into doing it myself at some point!

Thanks look1Angel. I've actually rented points before on the forum, but that was a few years ago and the restrictions weren't there, so that is why I was worried, but looks like I'll be able to try there.
And Jay2009, I'll reply back if I do use that other site. i did see it is recommended by this site http://www.momswdw.com/disney-vacation-club/
So that is good.

Member services will sometimes make a one time per contract exception and let you bank points that are past the banking window. I would give them a call and ask for an exception. They will typically only do this once per contract. Good luck!

I am just looking into David's site as well. But for expiring points, seems like you may be better off posting your own.

About the banking window, there are other threads that talk about this undocumented and therefore "unofficial" rule that each contract may be allowed to bank once beyond the banking window. Since it is undocumented, it may be subject to MS discretion at the time you call.

Yes! My friend (who rented to me) was able to take advantage of this this year!

Oh thank you, I'll try and give Member services a call today. Wish me luck! Thx everyone for the advice!

Well, just wanted to update everyone, member services did give me the banking exception! Yeah! And yes, she said we get 1 exception. So that is a weight of my shoulder.....I am SOOO HAPPY about that. Losing 72 points didn't sit well with me.
Thank you everyone for this advice! I need to read this board more often!
