I can't beleive my husband has put a big block on my great plans for february!!!

I had the perfect trip planned, leave on 2/18, fly non-stop lga-mco, stay 2 nights at the Swan on starwood points, then on Sunday, head out for the Daytona 500 (I have awsome seats for the 4 of us), then come back and stay 3 nights at OKW in a 1 bedroom. He doesn't like to travel that week, (chaos), and isn't sure if our 5 year old will last the whole race! This is the first time he squashed any of my plans! It has nothing to do with money, he just doesn't want to go!! I have been trying for 3 years to go to the Daytona 500, but since the death of Dale Earnhardt, he hasn't been into it!! Maybe I will attempt the trip by my self!

thank you for letting me vent!!

Were you guys at Daytona when Dale was killed? NASCAR has changed a lot since he died, although I was never a huge fan I live in a NACAR town. Everyone had a 3 on their cars before. You don't see many 8's now.

Some 24's. I actually hope he wins the "NEXTEL" Cup. :teeth:

Maybe your husband could be tempted by a ride around the track at WDW?

:earsboy:

ClarabelleCow :( -- I hope he changes his mind! Sounds like you had a great trip planned!

thanks, no, I think dear hubby is just turning into a big poop!!! He has done the ride along at Daytona, and WDW,(I also did the ride along at WDW what a blast!!!!) We weren't there when it happened, though it was a sad day, we had a huge party at my sisters house, even my now 12 year old DD seemed to take the death hard. We used to hit alot of the tracks when we had one child, Dover, Charlotte, Atlanta, New Hampshire, Richmond, Pocono and Daytona in the summer. We haven't been to a race since DE#3 death. Though I buy tickets every year and end up selling them on e-bay!! Our DS age 4 1/2 loves watching the cars and cheering on for DEJr. #8, and I thought what a great race to bring him to for his first race! Maybe I will go and leave both DH and DD home!!!

Im so sorry that your trip isnt going as planned. Us husbands can sometimes be pains in the neck. At least DW says so;)

We finally got to see Daytona and did the tour last Wed. We live in NASCAR country, about 20 mins from Richard Pettys home and shop so getting to see and be at the track was cool. Man what a huge place!

If you decide to sell your tickets PM me, I would be interested. But I hope it works out best where your DH decides to go and you get your trip in. Good luck and Pixie dust!!

The ride along, while fun, can't compare to The Rookie Experience. That's where you actually get to drive the car, totally by yourself, and draft off of the instructor's car lead. I'm pretty sure that would light his fire again. Heck, I wasn't even a NECKCAR...err...NASCAR fan before I drove with Petty but now I love it.

It ain't cheap but it might be something worth thinking about.

Neckcar!! Too funny, the first time I went to a race, I thought my husband (then boyfriend) was a nut. I said you want me to go where!!! Growing up in upper fairfield county, CT, or should I say one of the PREP capitals, I thought he was crazy, but his brother had just moved to Virginia, so I said what the heck, at that time the track at RIR was small, the vibration of the engines went through your body like nothing I could fully explain, and I was hooked! Maybe the Rookie program would be the thing to do, we watch the races weekly, but he just has no desire to go!

Another vote for going without him. Why deny yourself pleasure, if it's something you want to do and it's affordable to you, go and have a blast. Who knows, maybe once he sees you're going alone he'll change his party pooping mind! :)

If you are comfortable with it, go without him. He does not have to be on every trip, especially if he does not want to go. Enjoy.

I agree. I have taken solo trips and really enjoyed them. Also, if you take your child, it might be a nice mother/child trip you'll both cherish forever. :)

I agree, go by yourself. I would. ::yes::

idratherbeinwdw---i love the pic in your sig..it brought me back.

I think you should take the trip, even if it means going without your DH! :) Who knows? Maybe he'll change his mind.
